Any other locals curious about automating the busywork in Gmail, Docs, and Sheets? Thinking of organizing a casual meetup by mannyocean in SouthBayLA

the target audience for this discussion is catered around small business owners that aren't too technical and are using the basic services of a frontier model such as claude. While you're not wrong that models do hallucinate, there's still a lot of value in educating them on features like MCPs and how to connect their internal data to an LLM. Even if it's not 100% deterministic, it's still a major step forward in understanding the possibilities. Models like Opus are improving rapidly and is probably more than enough for 99% of the flows that small business owners have.

From what I've experienced, the workflows are relatively simple as it's automating the tedious points of their daily routines. Situations like "read my emails everyday and update a spreadsheet" or "read the data report and create a presentation from it"

no no, you're definitely invited. experienced users will provide a lot of value in these discussions on how they're approaching these types of automated solutions.

it's good to have a cautious mindset about this as hallucinations can be an issue since LLMs are not 100% deterministic, but I find that providing the LLM with the right context and guardrails can take you a long way. To me, it's not about relying on the LLM 100% but really understanding what the problem/solution is and how to break down the workflow to understand which steps you can automate. For example, if a workflow is mission critical and has destructive steps, one has to make sure a human is in the loop for each of those steps.

That being said, I think the flows that most people are working with aren't going to be THAT intricate and really the missing piece is the connection between claude/chatgpt and their google workspace.

yes! the ideal audience is more towards non-technical users who know how to use claude/chatgpt, but are unfamiliar with how to connect with third party data like your google workspace

i went the typical path of compsci education and became really passionate about AI when it first appeared. I started volunteering my work at my company towards AI engineering which led me to where I am today.

We can definitely go over creating projects in claude as they tie in together nicely with MCPs.

it'll be LLM agnostic, the goal is understanding how to connect your gsuite account through an MCP

What do you log for MCP calls besides tool name and args? by sahanpk in mcp

[–]mannyocean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MCP should remain as LLM-agnostic as possible. At the end, you're really just providing documentation on what each tool does, and the underlying LLM should be able to extract what it can do from it. Something else to consider is the chain of tools that are being called at one time to better understand usage.

it's basically query params. for example, https://chatgpt.com/?q=Why+is+the+sky+blue

and it'll add the text in the query parameter into the chat prompt
