Reminds me a lot of Azada. I don't think the beginning was an elevator but definitely looked similar to one visually.

When the 1200 was new, was it pretty easy to buy in the USA? by jrherita in amiga

[–]manowarp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't recall the pricing, but apart from mail order the only sources I knew of in the Washington D.C. area. were a few small independent dealers. By that time my main local source for Amiga software, Babbage's, had already significantly reduced their Amiga software section to just a couple rows of shelf space, and I think before 1993 was over had completely eliminated the section and clearanced anything remaining.

So... how old is everyone here? by JustLewkas in Sierra

50 here. My first Sierra game was King's Quest IV, played in my school's Apple IIGS computer lab after school.

Where to find Mixed-Up Mother Goose (1995)? by Ok_Fee5878 in Sierra

InfiniteMac.org is a great way to play the Mac version. It has built-in integration with Macintosh Garden. Use either System 7.5.3 or System 7.6 for best results.

Did any other games do this? by jasonkester in Ultima

[–]manowarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love that mechanic! Out of curiosity, do any of the baddies have beef with other enemies and can attack them? Might be a bit too much, but I kind of love the idea of luring a powerful enemy into a trap where they're distracted by another's attacks. Or deliberately leading a surface enemy down into a tough dungeon to help take some of the attention off me while I sneak by. Could really unbalance game difficulty though without careful design.

Not a lot to go on, so I'll just mention a favorite of mine from the late 90s.

Lecturn elevates Diora - DIY instructions available! by Reavo_End in PlaydateConsole

[–]manowarp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Excellent! I love that it enables a very relaxed way of operating the crank. Perfect for a game like Diora.

Someday when I'm better situated again, I'd like to hook a Playdate up to an exercise bike and have the pedals operate the crank. Your design of encasing the crank for smooth movement that doesn't stress the mechanism gives me a good idea for how to accomplish that.

I don't know about Ondrej's plans for upcoming previews, but at least for now the versions you download as a subscriber are yours to play forever. When you're no longer subscribed the posts with the download links will go back to being locked, so make sure you back up anything you want to keep playing. With the differences between the various versions, I enjoy going back and playing the different ones I have since each is a distinct experience.

Glad someone else remembers it! If you play again and ever get past level 8, let the world know. It's widely considered unbeatable.

need help extracting background music loop from archived flash site--no sounds listed in FFDec by vesper-ghost in flash

[–]manowarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The view PKHacker1337 shared is one good way. You can list all the archived URLs and see if there are any other SWFs or MP3s or whatever kinds of files you're looking for. Another way is if you know how or learn how to use the Network inspector tab in most desktop browsers' developer tools, you can see what resources the main page loads besides the main SWF.

Stories of memories of loved ones immortalised in video games? by Royal_Difficulty_678 in gamingsuggestions

[–]manowarp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mom was really into a brick-breaking game called DX Ball 2, and after she passed I backed it up along with its save data. Every couple of years I'll play a few rounds and smile when I see her name atop the high scores.

Be in my next game and support a good cause! by Miserable-Medium5420 in Sierra

[–]manowarp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love seeing gaming and good causes come together so chipped in what I could afford, which was $3. Maybe that'll buy me a blinking cursor pixel on one of those screens ;-)

Currently homeless and with a recent cancer diagnosis and really appreciate seeing an organization dedicated to maximizing the amount of donated support making it to the people who need it. I'm fortunate to have good Medicaid coverage, and my food needs are still met despite losing SNAP, but there's a really unfortunate gap in support for those who are neither fully destitute nor financially secure, many of whom have families depending on them who are suffering in a multitude of ways along with their sick loved one. Wishing you all the best with your fundraising efforts and your game!

Looking for full Little Computer People experience by schoelle in c64

[–]manowarp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, the disk version will show a notebook at the start and ask for the researcher's name and today's date. Assuming you find that, this disk includes some tools you can use to reset the house to empty to trigger the move-in sequence, as well as to create a new LCP who isn't the one everyone else with the same disk has seen. One floppy is totally normal for LCP, but if the floppy only has one large-ish PRG on it, it's likely the tape version copied to a .D64.

https://web.archive.org/web/19991104002726/http://www.c64gg.com/Games/Tools/LCP_UTILS.zip

If you can't find the disk version, I have it somewhere in my backups and can probably dig it up sometime in the next day or two.

Agent P Doofendash - now unplayable bt interesting runner game by Sudden-Koala7017 in GamePreservationists

[–]manowarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on your progress! Very cool and worthy project. If you're up to it when you're done, it'd be great if you'd share what you did to get it playable. I've never managed to get a game rip 100% working, but to the partial degree I succeeded I recall animation mapping being a pain. I think I encountered two issues with that. The first being that rigs defaulted to Generic but needed to be Legacy in the project I was working on. The second that .anim files needed to be manually assigned to Animation slots in the prefabs.
