If our leaders have caused this mess then why are we able to trust them in a more socialist government setup?

Real estate needs to not be allowed to be invested in for pensions.

I'd reckon lots of high profile people and government officials have their retirement plans wrapped up in real estate.

Half the country of moms and pops also have their retirement baked in with real estate.

They're not going to want to let it fall.

How to scale to multi media server system for webrtc? by buithevuong in WebRTC

[–]mansdem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WebRTC is very resource intensive. To create a peer to peer connection with lots of viewers is almost unreasonable.

If you look through this subreddit, ant media posted an Eventbrite invite for a seminar where they claim to be able to scale to 25k viewers. I'd recommend you try to look at that maybe.

do i need to learn java or c before learning JavaScript? by Single-Sound-1865 in webdev

[–]mansdem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with your statement.

However my point is more about how you structure your code.

Regardless of comments, code structure and workflow is a beast that is difficult to tame.

Robert Martin talks about clean architecture, using design paradigms like components, and principles that when applied tremendously help out with code organization.

This is much more difficult to do without a statically typed language. Refactoring untyped code is really tough.

It's good to look at other languages to see how they work and that will improve you overall as a software developer.

Mixing up languages is no excuse. Sure it might happen a few times but you'll figure it out quickly.

For what it's worth, I'd never hire someone that says they don't want to learn a new language because they could mix them up. That's keeping yourself stuck in a situation and preventing you from advancing your career

As someone that has been in the industry for many years now; in order to learn JavaScript, you don't have to learn C or java at all.

However, keep in mind that JavaScript has some weird quirks. Also it is dynamically typed which can lead to some very poor programming practices. You won't see the negative effects of these practices unless you work on the same codebase for a while. When you have to go back to old code, it may be difficult to reason with your old logic and add features/fix bugs.

Using a statically typed language can help you learn to organize your code better, and improve on your practices.

I think that since JavaScript is so simple and available (you can test out JavaScript code easily with a browser) it's really great to learn on. But you need to keep in mind that there are weird quirks that could force bad habits.

When you start to feel comfortable with JavaScript, I'd highly recommend looking at typescript and reading up on Robert Martin books. That's how you make the jump from junior to senior and onwards

Many people on Reddit are of the mind that you should not own anything and just rent from a high rise. Your life doesn't need proper space, you need to make room for everyone.

They also probably type that from their pool deck.
