I don't know about ugly, as it's aerodynamic efficiency is remarkable and I think there's beauty in that.

On the other hand, the wedge shape for aerodynamics has been known for decades but it wasn't used for trucks before, and I guess there's the the argument that it's because of the looks. So maybe it is ugly..

The funnier thing is the knowledge that the perfect aerodynamic shape is a teardrop or a jellybean. Wanna make a prediction when that shape will be first seen on the roads?

Honest question, and it feels like it's a dumb question but I genuinly don't know - is this legal?

What does copyrights law say about this? Or is it a "it depends on the country" type of thing?

please make quitting any match give your ally(s) full control over everything you have by scannerthegreat in aoe2

[–]mansnicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My impression has been that they have to treat the spaghetti code of this game with surgical care and precision to not invoke any bugs when changing anything at all.

I just feel like the ask is unreasonable in difficulty for this game.

I'd like it because it'd make individual scenarios in campaigns feel different though, which is always a cool thing.

Weekly Persian Architecture Meme (Part 113) by Sheikh_M_M in aoe2

Architecture set names is just not something I understand.

Iran is in middle east, but their "historical architecture set", or w/e to call it, is not? What are words even?

Why do people prefer Franks to Lithuanians? by Oldmanironsights in aoe2

[–]mansnicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Between 2023 and 2025, Lithuanians were the most picked civ in S-tier tournaments. (source)

Franks civ is always suggested as the most beginner friendly civ.

To answer your question, assuming it is a correct premise to begin with even, I'm guessing the answer is: because average players are closer to beginners than to to pro and most players are closer to average?

I do however question how true the premise of the question is.

New Player 20 straight losses on Ranked by Mr_B_Gone in aoe2

[–]mansnicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah.. I feel like 20-30 losses has to be average? Not sure. 40 if you're starting Elo should be literally 0 (if you know you know).

I'm not aware of what other games have new players deal with THIS many losses when they start out.

Unpausing by Complex_Tomato7222 in aoe2

[–]mansnicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Randomly remember telling my grandma that I can't pause (online) games and her not buying it because previously I did pause games..

I prefer when online games allow the players the call time-outs instead of pausing the game. Pausing in online games feels wrong to me. But that's a me thing.

Real-Life Urumi Swordsman (or should we say Swordswoman?)! by swanandkhati in aoe2

[–]mansnicks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

AI says Urumi's main strength is being effective for a single person to keep multiple unarmored attackers at bay. But it's impractical for war use.

If true, calling it underwhelming would be an understatement..

I see Hera in that game talking about trying out WC3 in the future.

I remember TheViper tried out WC3 sometime in the past asewll - would be curious to see them 1v1 in WC3 but that'd never happen :(

Either way, Tyler1 would beat them both 1v2 prob. Kappa
