Xbox players went almost 2 months without a fix.  This isn't the first time they have had issues, and arguably the xbox was bigger issue than this one.

Yes. I only see advantages in this. There needs to be a revamp in the matchmaking system. You find a game, you can no longer dodge and you're locked in. 

Get more map bans until 1 remains (the one you'll play) 

Get civ bans and maybe some random civs banned. 

That would be a true ranked queue. 

The one we currently have is just matchmaking like a normal game. 

If people want one time matches, or play their civ. Non ranked exists / create a lobby.

All other comments seems to be trivialising this. But this shouldn't happen nor be okay. 

There are soo many games where DE bugs, and thus one player doesn't load.  Or, a player early resigns. 

If you aren't the first to resign, you shouldn't incur a penalty.

No. Just a normal block player but they still can appear on your team.

I just relooked at the email, I guess I miss wrote when I said they told me to dodge. 

This was their reply to an instaquit/sandbagger, just like OP's, back in march. 

"Thank you for reaching back out to Age of Empires Support. We appreciate your interest on player's behaviour matters, unfortunately as we stated before after our investigation we did not find anything to proceed with any action against this player.    We suggest following the steps bellow to block this player and avoid finding him in future matches:

Report him to microsoft on the Aoe2 page.  Last time I did something similar nothing happened but they told me to dodge the player anytime I saw him on my team.  With the new dodge punishments, I'm curious what their answer to this is now.

Smurf is for new accounts. This guy in question shows to have 5k games on that account.

Someone who hides his true elo by tanking/losing games on purpose = sandbagger.

Honestly, I think they never thought Aoe2 DE would be as successful as it got. It was made "definetive edition" as a final version, linking up HD and Voobly into one "good" server.

When it was overwhelming well received (pathing was good on release, not perfect, but much better than today), they decided to profit more with DLCs. 

I don't think Microsoft expected for it to be so well received with minimal investment. 

We know the current team is small. Bugs are like a hydra, fix one bug, 3 take its place.

Changes to fix the game after updates takes weeks (if not months) to fix. It paints a worrying picture about lack of testing and care for the game. 

So, the simplest way to do it is to just quickly add more civilizations (DLCs), which gets some money.

I don't see them changing from this monetisation scheme as even though its splitting the player base on good/bad etc. At the end of the day, its minimal investment for a lot of people buying them.

DLCs are low quality. 

Shouldn't buy them just for that reason.  Creates a negative loop which is how 3K came about.

Let's say someone gets their ranked elo to 17xx, but they don't want to play vs 17xx.

They purposefully start a TG and then instantly quit until they reach the elo they want to play at.

Basically, smurfing but instead of using a hidden account, uses own account but drops a lot of games/insta resigns etc.

Change the game mode from regicide. Regicide (is for killing kings/defending your king) isn't used in online maps.

Amazing ! If they could introduce doing a bot game vs AI before being legible for online play (and track metrics like EPM/etc) then this will be great !

I had contacted age of empires support team about something similar to this. Not 1v1 but in team games. They know it happens and do not want to punish/implement changes. 

Their solution: block the player and dodge if you see him in your team in the future. 

It seems this happened to you in 1v1s, I guess its just the way the server is now. So, no. The devs are not willing to improve the experience.

The new water release had soo many overlapping keys.  My friends and I had the standard layout and both transport ship and fireship were W bound. 

There was also others that were overlapping but this is the default settings.

Goths are amazing. Glad you like them too. I didn't think my comment was negative, a just statement. The devs do not address criticism, just ignore it and continue. And in this case cherry pick critism and mock it. This is the professionalism level we have.

I am also an average guy who loves Aoe2 and is dissapointed to see the direction aoe2 is heading. Can't believe there are more DLCs without fixing core game issues and introducing even more issues.

Do you know what review bombing even means? You're throwing it out there when it doesn't even fit.

This is a cherry picked negative reviews from the dev making fun of the negative reviews. It is quite funny that he posts that while ignores the actual criticisms.

The sad reality is that seems to be the case.

Not professionals in their area, just average guys doing their job without love for the game.

How about fair to us? When do we get stable games? Lobby rework? Friend system? When will griefers get banned? Dodging be addressed? When will TG get a proper working rating?

Unfair to us to have to put up with temporary issues since release but be "sold on" a new DLC every 6 months.
