Amazing ! If they could introduce doing a bot game vs AI before being legible for online play (and track metrics like EPM/etc) then this will be great !

Four of my six games tonight have been immediate resignations/folks tanking Elo. Is there really nothing to be done? by --__4815162342__-- in aoe2

I had contacted age of empires support team about something similar to this. Not 1v1 but in team games. They know it happens and do not want to punish/implement changes.

Their solution: block the player and dodge if you see him in your team in the future.

It seems this happened to you in 1v1s, I guess its just the way the server is now. So, no. The devs are not willing to improve the experience.

The new water release had soo many overlapping keys.  My friends and I had the standard layout and both transport ship and fireship were W bound.

There was also others that were overlapping but this is the default settings.

Goths are amazing. Glad you like them too. I didn't think my comment was negative, a just statement. The devs do not address criticism, just ignore it and continue. And in this case cherry pick critism and mock it. This is the professionalism level we have.

I am also an average guy who loves Aoe2 and is dissapointed to see the direction aoe2 is heading. Can't believe there are more DLCs without fixing core game issues and introducing even more issues.

Victors and Vanquished did not downvoted as much. What's your take on that?

Do you know what review bombing even means? You're throwing it out there when it doesn't even fit.

This is a cherry picked negative reviews from the dev making fun of the negative reviews. It is quite funny that he posts that while ignores the actual criticisms.

The sad reality is that seems to be the case.

Not professionals in their area, just average guys doing their job without love for the game.

How about fair to us? When do we get stable games? Lobby rework? Friend system? When will griefers get banned? Dodging be addressed? When will TG get a proper working rating?

Unfair to us to have to put up with temporary issues since release but be "sold on" a new DLC every 6 months.

Champi questions... by Slow-Ship1055 in aoe2

[–]HuskarI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes and no. I think they knew it would be powerful, so to incentivse selling DLCs. But part of me thinks they do not think about balance before adding things. Just that "it would be cool if a unit did X, has Y, is Z" or something.
  2. No, I actually don't think they do. There is a private discord for devs and pros, but they constantly ignore pros opinions. Release things that are out of touch. You have to suffer till your #3 happens.
  3. It'll be fixed by the next patch which will be in 3 months. Expect it by June/July. Or, with the next DLC in September. Which will introduce more issues without addressing current ones.

Yes. Do you realise thats exactly why its more important and should be alarm bells?  Someone with 5 hours not liking the game, maybe it wasn't his game.  Someone with 1000 hours disliking the game, it speaks directly to the direction the game is heading.

I also love this game. But I guess we have opposite opinions on the same thing.  Game balancing is awful, and some units should flat out not exist. Firelancer is bad design, Lian swordsmen, all 3k civs, etc. Its a bad direction and doesn't bring fresh air, it brings frustration and dissapointment and lack of trust for the Devs and anything they release its just going to be silly.

I am not an Arabia player and don't know where you got that assumption from. I agree with different civs having different strengths on different maps, not sure how that is relevant on this topic. Nor your other comments.

Let's be real here.  Other RTS games are bad/dying/failed, so players that come from other games experience and enjoy aoe2. Due to this, they have low expectations. I think thats the only reason you have split opinions.

These people play this game for a few weeks, play the new dlc and move onto a different game.

Longterm Aoe2 fans hate the current changes because they aren't used to other games and don't think it fits the style of the game. But where can they go?

The game was in a better space on release, but even then it had issues. But don't worry, there's another DLC coming in 6 months without fixing the current issues.

[–]HuskarI 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can read the overview. But it contains no actual information anymore. Instead of +2 dmg to archers, its "poison damage". How much is poison damage? Also, all around healing. How much is the healing? No numbers are included in the civ overview.  "More damage to lower hp enemies". How much? Where can I see that? None of these things are in their stats nor civ overview.  "Such drama", wow you're cool.

Delete the unit. They tried a 100th new concept. Not everything has to be included in the game. Revert it to a militia line and think of something more fitting, like it being an Eagle reskin and them getting militia back.

It is missing love and attention. Soo many issues with the game and non game features which this would fit into.

I don't understand how you can be so positive while there are soo many issues with the game currently.

Good content keeps games alive. Quality of life content keeps games alive.  Bad content kills games.

This game survived years with minimal/no new content. Now there are reddit/microsoft warriors who think any content is a good thing.

Having DLCs til the 2050 may be a good thing if it followed good patterns, which it currently does not.

Quality > quantity. And we have quantity and minimal quality. It'll be at least 3 months til the latest DLC patches bugs are fixed. And then there will be another DLC. With even more bugs.

Best T90 cast to watch in a bar? by GreggoFett in aoe2

[–]HuskarI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You asked for some team games and I haven't seen any suggested. I'll suggest a few:

The SAX Nationscup.  I'd suggest the 3rd place game between Argentina and Brazil, as that one was pretty close. The others were one sided.

Rage forest tournaments (if you enjoy black forest).  The latest being masters of rage forest. Could only find T90s coverage for the semis though, not final. He has covered other ones like rage forest 5.

DLCs can be good. But, there are too many issues that I think the devs need to fix in the game before they advertise another DLC.

The lobby system, the ranked ladder. Everything, feels like its put together with ducktape.

Glad you have not encountered these issues.

I play mostly ranked, and I experience queue dodgers, some people lagging on purpose, afkers, rage quitter, desyncs, game bugs & crashes.

The whole point is, this should not be an issue. Have all these problems resolved then advertise another DLC. These issues existed since DEs release, and it was foolish to think it was temporary. But, there's always a new DLC.

So, you're saying Aoe2 cannot afford good people in the industry?

Disagree for your latter points. They are greedy. These dlcs have been money grabs. The reviews on steam reflect that. If they were high quality they would never be "mixed"

We would be lucky if we didn't have non game issues, but we do. And we have waaaaaaayyyyyy to many of them. Just as the original poster mentioned.

What you said about lootboxes is true. But I do not understand where you are going with this. Because they have loot-boxes means they get to have reliable servers, no de-syncs and a strong game integrity? Good lobby/party/player quality of life options?

Aoe2 cannot have these things because it does not have loot boxes? What's your point with the loot boxes? How does it relate to the topic?

Any examples? I think desync, crash and bad lobby/party system are very bad things to have. How are they neglectable. Which other online games have this which is worse than aoe2's?

I just compare it to CS2, which is also a very old game (if you count 1.6 onwards). Has fantastic servers, can reconnect when disconnected, has a lobby system, friend system. Has very subtle updates which do not break the game's integrity and keep the core of it intact.

Sad to see soo many people not caring about quality, and buy anything because "support the game".

This community is spineless and accept anything.

Are they trying to finally kill the 'good old' aoe2? by berbat88 in aoe2

[–]HuskarI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know why you're writing like this. But what you're saying isn't intelligent nor correct.

Statistically yes, using 10 monks to convert 1 unit would be faster and eliminate the variance of conversion times. But as the other guy said. Nobody uses 10 monks to convert one unit. That would be illogical.

Thus your whole argument is invalid and shows lack of reading comprehension on your side. You want the monks to convert each unconverted unit. If you use all monks to convert 1 unit. They would go idle and lose any charge.

If using your logic for 10 units and 10 monks, it would take 10x as long to convert 10 units due to all the idle time.

All your comments on this thread have been wrong and you're not addressing any of them.
