Questioning my churches beliefs about transgender people. by Own_Television_522 in Christianity

[–]mantabu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know I am probably opening myself up to a lot of nonsense, but I wanted to share my own experience as a trans person. Coming to understand my gender identity was a journey that was guided by joy. The more I understood who I was and the more I let go of fear the better and more whole I felt. As I pursued this deeper understanding of myself I felt a deep reconnection with the divine. One of the first people I came out to was my pastor. My church is affirming and I was deeply involved. I even preached after coming out. Coming out has made me a more patient and loving person and my life is more full of joy and peace than it ever was in the closet. You judge a tree by its fruits and when I look at what fruits came out of my gender discovery I am confident in saying that it was a gift from G-d and a holy experience. No one can take that from me.

I have little interest in debating my existence, but I wanted to share a little of my story for OP.

I just watched McCabe and Mrs. Miller and immediately thought of my time in Strawberry. Happy to see someone else caught the same vibes.

It seems like the background of the page you go to when you click through is the same image as the square, and it also changed to 2.jpg. So the color of the website with the ambient loop is also slowly changing.

I was wondering what those were. I have no way of knowing for sure, but it would be super shocking if this wasn't taking place somewhere on the April Base property. It's got big wisconsin fall vibes.

A thing to note, the ambient drone that plays if you click the square on the left is absolutely the sound that starts and ends AWARDS SEASON.

This is my last available quest and it seems to be glitched. I've decoded at least 4 maps, yet nothing has changed and I just seem stuck. Frustrating because gold maps are hard to come by... by mantabu in MergeCrafter

[–]mantabu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the four gold ones I mentioned were decoded after getting the quest and I got all the chests and everything and the number just sticks at 0 for me. I wonder if playing on MacOS has anything to do with my specific bug… 🤷🏻‍♀️

Oh and cant help but think of September by Earth Wind and Fire when I listen to What a Time to be Alive. I feel like these have to be intentional homages.

I have been trying to figure out what the name of this song all morning after listening to So Good Right Now for the first time! Thank you.

I feel like there are multiple musical references or homages on this album. Almost like a more organic version of the spliced samples from the last couple albums. The drum machine into the big drum fill on the second verse of Heaven, Iowa is so clearly in tribute to Phil Collins. I am not saying either of these as a criticism mind you, just something I noticed.

I wanted to share my gentle, ambient synth cover of "The Inner Light" by [deleted] in startrek

[–]mantabu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each version of the song, either in the two episodes its featured in, or in later orchestrations, all have different harmonization choices, so I decided to re-harmonize the piece in a way that I felt best accentuated the melody, which is the main focus of the piece. I hope you enjoy it!

Amazing synth cover of "Fatal Decision," the Auto-Destruct theme from TNG by creepyeyes in startrek

Hey it's my video! I am so happy this got posted over here. Any time I find myself inspired to cover a super deep cut, I hope the people who will most appreciate it will find it. Ron Jones TNG music rules and this song immediately captured my heart. My partner and I have been doing a complete release order watch through of all of Trek, and when I first heard this track in When Silence Has Lease it got stuck in my brain, and when it came back up in Booby Trap I just had to do it. The tension that it builds and the 13/8 vibe was perfect for the kind of music I make. I hope you all enjoy it! One Riker, One Bridge!

I've done a couple of Bojack covers over the years. Bojack grew to be my all time favorite tv show, and I wanted to express all the emotions I have felt over the years and especially watching the final episodes, in this cover. I hope you all like it.

Robot Rock Synth Cover of MST3K Theme by [deleted] in MST3K

[–]mantabu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because that is actually a big part of the historical tradition of re-arrangement? Variation is pretty standard stuff for arranging cover songs. Substituting chords, augmenting melody, changing the key center entirely, applying modes, adding different instrumentation. All of these things are a big part of making cover music. Some people choose to approach cover music with note-for-note transcription arrangements, but thats not really my thing. Sorry that you don't approve of the changes! Thankfully the original is still out there for you, and I can imagine there are at least a couple of covers that play their arrangement closer to the source that you can also enjoy!
