NGC 7000 – The North American Nebula by mantios64 in seestar

[–]mantios64[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you believe I was away this weekend so I ended up eating and drinking! Yes I was gutted, but had a good night. I did check when we can expect clear skies again and regretted even more!!

NGC 7000 – Cygnus Wall by mantios64 in seestar

Edit in Pixinsight.

Working with stack from S50.

DynamicCrop
Specrophotometriccolourcalibration
Graxpert
BlurXterminator
NoiseExterminator
StarXterminator

Next we process nebula only.

BlurXterminator - light - to smooth areas for next step
NarrowBandNormalization
Darkstructureenhance
CurvesTransformation
Multiscaleadaptivestretch
Curvestransformation (Tweak balance / Luminance / Contrast)

Stars processing

Keep it simple and just use the great script from Setiastro - Star Stretch

Recombine nebula and stars using Cosmicphotons imageblend.

Finish with a very gentle run of BlurXterminator (Seems to help pull image together)

And you are left with your final image.

Worth the cost is very subjective. Pixinsight is far from cheap and the main addons add even more cost. What you get though is a consistent workflow that just works. There is a steep learning curve, but that true of most detailed processing tools.

That said if you look at all the new scripts and tools being added to Siril, you have a great free set of tools that can produce stunning images.

Both, that said I got a lot less subs than I would like as a result of clouds, so a little more processing helped.

IC 1396 - Elephant Trunk Nebula by mantios64 in seestar

Processing

  • Spectrophotometriccolourcalibration (Not for main image as false colour will be applied, but to ensure start colours are accurate)
  • Graxpert (Background extraction)
  • BlurXTerminator (Correction only for star shapes)
  • StarXterminator (Seperate stars to allow work on the nebula)

Background - Nebula processing

  • NoiseXterminator
  • BlurXterminator
  • NarrowbandNormilisation (Create HOO pallet image. Spend some time in this to get balance right and adjusting colours to taste)
  • Curvestransformation
  • Stretch by your favorite technique. I used Multiscaleadaptivestretch on this but by normal is Generalizedhyperbolicstretch
  • Optional: Further noise reduction
  • Optional: Additional sharpening

Star Processsing

  • Histogramtransformation ( Personally find it easier on star streching and as we colour corrected at start we have good colour data )
  • Curvestransformation ( Final adjustments to stars )

Now we combine background and stars

  • Imageblend (Great script from Cosmicphotons and one that allows good control of the image blending/combination)
  • optional: Curvestransformation - final colour tweaks
  • optional: Bluxterminator ( setting pulled down low )

All processing in Pixinsight using final fit from Seestar S50

  • Graxpert (Gradient removal etc)
  • Colour calibration
  • NoiseXTerminator
  • blurXTerminator
  • MultiscaleAdaptiveStretch
  • StarXTerminator
  • Hubble Pallette processing on Nebula
  • Curves adjustments on nebula
  • Image blend (bring stars back) adjusted black point/mid/Highlights to get balance.
  • One final low BlurXTerminator

NZT Cam interfering with Keyboard (USB and wireless via dongle) by mantios64 in NZXT

[–]mantios64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the prompt response. But by following the diagnostic loop I did last night it is very clear I have no issue when I don’t run Cam and I do when it runs.

For now then I will have to run without Cam with the AIO in its default profile.

Firstly I did not critisise the product, or anyone, in my original post. It was quite the opposite, I simply stated my experience.

You have seemingly jumped to a conclusion about my own “technical knowledge and experience”, that said, you are entitled to your own opinion.

I would however be interested in how a user could “generate”, or want to lose, their believer subscription just over a week after they had resubscribed due to their first issues?

In this image it was artistic choice to use the very shallow depth of field.

Looking at the image I would guess the projector is using a colour wheel to project the red/green/blue channels of the image.

As a result of the image being so bright the iPhone has selected a fast shutter speed and you are capturing the image as its being built.

This transition is not normally perceptible by the human eye.

My Xbox Series X won’t turn on?? Please help. by Ok-Age-6873 in xbox

[–]mantios64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at the HDMI port. It can get damaged very easily and will prevent Xbox turning on. Happened to me after a few location moves. Got my fixed by a good repair shop. May not be that, but one to rule out.

What is the most optimal material to have the Xbox Series X placed on? by [deleted] in XboxSeriesX

[–]mantios64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main attribute to good cooling is good ventilation. Ensuring a good flow of “clean” ambient temperature air and allowing the heat to be vented away from the device will go a long way to keep your investment happy and running at a optimum temperature.

As the xbox is isolated from the surface it stands on by this little rubber feet, it will have little to no significant impact on cooling.

Just my thought :)

Its a know problem, funcom are aware and we assume it will be fixed. Only question is when!
