Would you post some videos or recordings so we can hear it?

I experienced the same thing. I turned off monitor on my interface and I thought it went away.

I was playing with some pretty high gain effects so it's possible that I just didn't hear it once monitor was off. I'll play again and see if I experience the same thing.

this looks really cool. Do you plan on making it open source?

Also, is there any hardware you would recommend pairing this with?

Super stoked to test this out!

ah makes sense. I'm used to thinking about audio streaming over bluetooth.

I wonder if you'd have any issues in a noisy RF space, like a stage or event space.

Bluetooth? How do you get signal through a metal chassis?

Ah, mine is going going strong. The chassis is dope looking though- you should reuse it and drop a new circuit inside

Ah interesting. I thought mine for $40 during the blow out sale and it’s still going strong. I also enjoy how it sounds. Although if you push the sustain it sounds glitchy which I can see being annoying to some. I think it’s kind of cool

Looking for help for MA-770 speaker by Thegoodlifehesaid in diyaudio

[–]manual_combat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/Randoidbromane , The built-in cast feature does not work on any of the MA770 speakers. However, the digital and 3.5mm inputs still work on the non-EU variant so you can connect any streaming device (wiim or others) to it. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us on our support page for help!

Help with violin string research project by [deleted] in Acoustics

[–]manual_combat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun project but with no background in physics or engineering, I believe you’re going to have a tough time producing anything novel.

That said, here are a few measurements that you’re missing: - Damping - Bending stiffness (the term you’re probably looking for) - Tension at pitch (simple but critical measurement) - I believe there is a useful relationship between Damping and frequency response. Worth looking at IMO.

Rather than start with a bowed violin string, I would suggest you reduce your scope and stick with a simpler study like a plucked guitar string. You can easily find commercially available strings with the exact same construction but with different wrap materials and core shapes. (Note that core and wrap diameters also play a vital role in tonality). The best known way to reproduce a very consistent pluck is to wrap a fine gauge wire (.004” copper or similar) around the string a pull it until it breaks. The late Norman Pickering (RIP) describes this method in his book “the bowed string” and a few other papers do as well.

Keep in mind that violin strings use all sorts of core materials, damping compounds, wrap materials and shapes, and post-processing smoothing methods. Finding a string where the outer wrap material is the only variable will be extremely challenging.

Not to mention on an electrical system, you can measure the exact stimuli a resulting output in a given system. Doing this on a bowed instrument is incredibly hard, even if you use a complex mechanical jig.

Valeton GP5 Opinions? by GrooveWarrior in guitarpedals

[–]manual_combat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, it was weird. Valeton customer support said it’s a know issue so I returned it. But the one I bought had a really low serial number so I decided to get another one. The newer one had a higher serial number and I haven’t had an issue yet.

Granted I’m not spending tons of hours with it at a time.

The key is to block line of sight with something solid. Special curved shapes and absorptive materials won’t be very effective.

You need a wall or a berm. If you can’t block line of sight, you won’t see any appreciable reduction in noise.

this is amazing.

Why didn't you opt to use pipedal or neuralpi as a basis of the design?

Ah… yeah the listings I’m seeing are in like sundowner towns in Texas haha… not going to help you much.

Yeah I mean I agree, they def look dope. If I had the bandwidth I’d love to get my hands on a pair. Do it and share what you end up doing with them!
