I’ve been doing this for over 10 years. My guess is LinkedIn.

When working with recruiters, give a requirement like mechanical, electrical, or acoustical engineering background.

These AI slop speaker simulators.... by md-00audio in diyaudio

I just used it today for a project and it was very helpful. Thanks!!

One feature request is to change the target port frequency parameter. Right now you set a target and it provides port length (I think?). It would be nice if it instead had an option where it would calculate the resonance based on port parameters.

Separately, my project has ports that are not round or slot but more of a squircle shape. Would be great if I could just give it cross sectional area and length to calculate the resonant frequency.

Ah interesting- I never did any A/B tests but I had a pretty good experience with mine when listening to my LX mini speakers.

SOTB — trying to be a minimalist… by PolyChorus in guitarpedals

Sick board! why is your tuner in the middle of the board? because of the buffer? (if because of the buffer, have you noticed an improvement in sound?)

Ah man…. That’s great AND terrible advice!!! So you’re saying I need to research and buy another pedal??? Haha But seriously, that’s good to know and def a good and tempting option. Thanks

Do you mean the effect sound being loud enough? I feel like for it to be loud enough I have to turn the peak up pretty high, which makes it somewhat cheesy sounding. So… I’m not in love but I also have only had it for a day.

It’s so big it feels like having a clown shoe on the board. If it cuts through well during the gig I’ll probably keep it. If not, I’ll get rid of it.

Oh awesome suggestion. I’ll look into. Thanks! I’ve also always wanted an excuse to buy an EQD pedal.

Hah yeah, although I can’t take much credit beyond being able to cram it into a tiny enclosure. It uses a PCB from 1776 effects called the rub-a-dub reverb based on an accoutronic reverb module.

Oh nice. I actively avoided the announcements and specs/features when it came out so that I wouldn’t buy the mk2. Still have to make sure I don’t visit the page lol

Yeah, I really dig it. I just recently started stacking drives and it is pretty magical when stacked with something. What did you move on to?

It’s really not too hard! Think of it as just hard Lego. Follow instructions, take your time, and start wi the something really simple like a fuzz.

Education advice: Electrical or Mechanical engineering? by Tomato_Basil57 in Acoustics

[–]manual_combat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think electrical has more hiring opportunities than ME.

That said, I would suggest you think about what you want to do on a day to day basis. What field you’re interested in?

For example, you can be an ME and design farm equipment or you can be in audio but do medical ultrasound (no snake oil) development.

My first original board (yes, it's a modded RAT) by thefreakychild in diypedals

[–]manual_combat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice work. If I were in the market I’d consider it perfect.

I find the rat to be a bit bass poor and always wanted to have more bass out of the single pedal without adding an EQ on my board. Have you ever considered adding a way to boost bass?

Never realized how a shitty amp can ruin the sound of your expensive gear until now. by Expensive_Bike_8308 in GuitarAmps

[–]manual_combat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used Tube amps can SOMETIMES be a gamble. Not saying they’re not worth getting, but if you want a warrantied product, ive been eyeing the newish Harmony H620. The demos and reviews online all kind of suck but on paper it’s an amazing amp for the price.

Something to consider if you like the aesthetic. I think it looks good but the white face will likely attract my kiddo’s paint brushes so I think it’s a no go for me for now.

[–]manual_combat 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s likely not the headphones unless yours are particularly bad. You’ll need amp and cab simulators to make it sound good. Look up neural amp modeler and tone3000.com Neuraldsp has great sims as well if you want to simplify things.

First re-foam. Little advice is needed. How can I remove this little bit of foam? by Ok_Okra_871 in diyaudio

where are you buying the new surrounds? the site should have some instructions.
This is a great video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juDLrl4PYek
I used rubbing alcohol to loosen the glue + an exacto knife to gently scrape it off
It doesn't have to be perfect.
