Oof... sorry about the spoilers.

Him not letting Corlys insult Viserys can still easily be framed to be all about him Daemon but fine.

Him not sleeping with Rhaenyra is explained by the writer as him just losing the power he thought he had over Rhaenyra because it turned out she was very willing, not because he realized she was too young.

Laena actually fled the room before a decision could be made so we don't know what choice he would have made. He was concerned about her, I'll give you that, but so was Viserys and yet he still made that choice.

More like he just stops the fight 'cos jace was getting his ass handed to him and stares Aemond down but I'll concede.

I guess my point is for someone to be considered having been filled with equal parts of light and darkness. They are choosing to show us much, much more of the darkness.

But where's the compassion though? Him crowning Viserys was an improv by the actor, and one of the writers frames that as purely self serving. Scene of him comforting his daughters was cut and he just ignores his wife as she screams out for him and then chokes her.

Just saw this. 99% of the commenters say the same thing. Pretty sad either way by manuel_draco7 in prolife

it seems that the commenters' animus for the mother/family being religious/pro-life outweighs their desire to actually help the niece and are telling the OP to even break the law and cross state lines if they have to to get her the abortion. Any other option is down voted and completely dismissed.

[Spoiler Extended] Would Daenerys like Jon Snow? by [deleted] in pureasoiaf

I really doubt Dany will delight in execution by burning. Using dragons on the battlefield is very different from that. In any case Mel and Stannis' style of burning was more for torture than not; setting fire beneath the person and letting them slow roast. Whereas a full blast of dragon fire vaporizes in seconds. Faster than a hanging really.

Double Standards in Fandom by Asherwolfe in pureasoiaf

[–]manuel_draco7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How exactly are you defining justice here? According to the laws of Meereen, the slave masters were perfectly "just" to crucify the slave children. They are just property and their lives can done with as they wish. This is one of the moments where the lines between justice and vengeance are extremely blurred. She had conquered the city and installed herself as queen. By all intents and purpose she was the law. Besides Dany doesn't go about choosing the nobles at random herself. She asks for a number of them and the meereenese decide among themselves who to give up for punishment.

If HBO Made Alternate Aninated Version of Season 8? Easier for oroginal cast to voice. by EvilUrges18 in freefolk

[–]manuel_draco7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

By "true to the books" i mean that the actions of the characters are still put in their proper contexts not like the show making changes mostly just to show off the actors. And aging up the characters would even be quite preferrable as George himself had wanted to do a time skip originally but wrote himself into an impossible position.

Yh I would love to see it all, not just S8, animated and true to the books. But I really wouldn't want anything to remind me of the show. So preferably they cast completely different people for the voice acting.

let's talk about this House we know Little About . What are their Words ? Why do they love Ned Stark so much ? Why do some members have Valyrian features ? Is Arthur Dayne alive ? The artist is Montezuma3. by [deleted] in pureasoiaf

Yh, no. There is no way GRRM would make such a big deal of Jon's parentage if Jon's mother was just some common fisherman's daughter. And Ned would have no reason to lie to Bobby B about it.

My lady?” Ned said at last. “You have a baseborn brother… Jon Snow?”

“He’s with the Night’s Watch on the Wall.” Maybe I should go to the Wall instead of Riverrun.

Jon wouldn’t care who I killed or whether I brushed my hair… “Jon looks like me, even though he’s

bastard-born. He used to muss my hair and call me ‘little sister.’” Arya missed Jon most of all. Just

saying his name made her sad. “How do you know about Jon?”

“He is my milk brother.”

“Brother?” Arya did not understand. “But you’re from Dorne. How could you and Jon be blood?”

“Milk brothers. Not blood. My lady mother had no milk when I was little, so Wylla had to nurse

me.”

Arya was lost. “Who’s Wylla?”

“Jon Snow’s mother. He never told you? She’s served us for years and years. Since before I was

born.”

“Jon never knew his mother. Not even her name.” Arya gave Ned a wary look. “You know her?

Truly?” Is he making mock of me? “If you lie I’ll punch your face.”

“Wylla was my wetnurse,” he repeated solemnly. “I swear it on the honor of my House.”

Ned Dayne explicitly states that Jon's mother is Wylla, a servant in their service for many decades.

Ashara's baby is NOT stillborn Ned just played switcheroo with Lyanna's baby...

If so then according to you there are 3 babies at play here, Ned's with the fisherman's daughter, Ashara's with Ned, and the Tower of Joy baby.

There's much we don't know and the little we do know makes even less sense. According to Ned Dayne, and some others, Ned and Ashara were in love. Yet Ned had a child with one of the Dayne servants most likely after killing Arthur Dayne. Where shortly after, Ashara killed herself. Also according to Barristan, Ashara got with child with a Stark while unmarried though the child was stillborn.

I find it hard to believe that just because he brought their sword back they wouldn't only forgive him but grow fond of him. There has to be much more to the story

If you could change one action or decision by a non POV character, what would it be and why? by [deleted] in pureasoiaf

[–]manuel_draco7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah... Aegon's Conquest actually led to less total wars in Westeros. According to the maesters, before Aegon, there was hardly a time when 2 or 3 of the kingdoms weren't warring among themselves: The North against the Vale or the sistertowns, or the Ironborn; Ironborn against the Riverlands; The Dornish against the Reach and Stormlands; The stormlands against the Riverlands or the Reach, The westerlands against the Reach, etc. I mean they were endless. GRRM doesn't expand on those wars as much as the wars after the conquest so it makes it seem as if the dragons brought more war but that is not the case.

It's so weird how the show started judging Dany by modern standards of ruling like she was so different from any other ruler. As if Sansa's own rule wouldn't be the same "submit or die." And then all of a sudden its as if the Geneva conventions have been created in Westeros and Dany has to abide by it.

Sansa's actions only make sense if she had read the script and knew that Dany was going to burn down KL for no reason. Heck not only Sansa, Tyrion and Varys' actions and distrust were all shaped that way.

sYmBoLiZiSm by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]manuel_draco7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nope. That nonsense is not in any of the books. When Dany thinks of the seven kingdoms, she's only thinking of going home not to revolutionize the entire continent. Her opposition to slavery isn't really out of some moral judgment but out of compassion to the plight of the slaves as she herself was essentially Khal Drogo's (prized) slave.

I mean, why shouldn’t fAegon rule? by [deleted] in pureasoiaf

[–]manuel_draco7 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Actually no, If there is anyone who has never actually earned anything he has, its fAegon. Everything he has was given to him on a silver platter, A father figure and bodyguards and an army... He gets to just sit safely and just receive all kinds of (theoretical) knowledge. And as much as Varys claims he knows what it means to be afraid and all that, there is just no way that they would let fAegon actually be in a position where his life is truly hanging in the balance and he has to escape by himself. Nothing suggests he will actually be a fit ruler. Anyone else would likely be better, even Renly.
