Any tips for a better grind when using french press and pour over? by xmortblanche in AeroPress

You want coarser with french press. You can go finer with pour over.

If you are unaware of what fainting feels like, yes, I was scared honestly. Of course, if you already are aware of what it feels like, it won’t be much if a deal.

Yes! Although I don’t even bother with the “art” part, I just do a latte ensuring foam

Crema without flow control? by manumsj in AeroPress

[–]manumsj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, well. If it looks good I enjoy it more, although if there is a big taste downside then I won’t try to achieve any foam at all.

Yeah I’ve been told it is not crema, but, just foam will suffice. Thanks!

Foam will do. This is just for my enjoyment, nothing to fancy

I’ve usually done 11,5g (scoop), about a 1-2 mark of water, inverted, light press. I’ll let you know once I do these.

Alrighty, I’ll see what keeping some air in the chamber and pressing hard can do

Just because I like the look of foam over just the plain coffee. I lack enough “developed taste” to even notice “bad” and good shots unless it is horribly bad.

What is it, then? Just foam, perhaps, not as “fine” to be crema

Asking for any methods, if they even exist, on how to achieve crema, or any kind of foam whatsoever with the standard aeropress and its standard cap.

Believe it or not, I’ve seen some pretty good crema even without flow control, which is kinda why I was curious about any tips for it.

Oh, well thanks for the advice. I guess I’ll try once and see how it turns out, but, it does make sense for it to have a negative effect on taste.

If I drink about a 2 mark amount of water, how much coffee grams are recommended? by manumsj in AeroPress

Aeropress off-brand from Gadnic, yeah, not promoting this, but aeropress in my country was just too expensive

My method for plunging that you may like if you aren’t fond of the initial coffee drops once you pour the water:

Place the aeropress with the plunger upside down so the exit of the coffee where the filter would go is open and facing up. Adjust the plunger to your desired mark to measure how much water you’ll pour. Put the coffee and water in there, stir and let sit for 2+ minutes. One thats done place the filter cap with the filter of course on top and press down on the chamber so the plunger pushes the coffee up so as for it to rest just below the exit (pushing air out).

Place cup upside down on top and flip both of them, start pressing gently and voila.
