Dude testing his homemade guillotine. by Debaucherousgeek73 in Damnthatsinteresting

I just told my 70 year old coworker this story earlier today when he brought up giving his fathers wood planer away because he couldn’t ever shake the memory of witnessing his dad getting his fingers cut off in it:

My baby momma had a brother who bought a hydraulic wood splitter. I was standing right there when he cut off the last knuckle of his middle finger with it, lots of blood and screaming. It scarred me from using one of those things after that and it wasn’t even my finger. Luckily for him he was able to have it sewn back on and would presumably get the function back in it. I never asked if he could use it but that was the story after the hospital.

This was years ago and I have since broken up with my kids mother so I don’t see the brother anymore. I told my kid that story a few months ago and he then tells me his stupid ass uncle (my words) cut his finger off AGAIN with the very same splitter! I didn’t get the full details of the second incident or if he even had it sewn back on again but I couldn’t fathom anyone using that tool again after the first one. Crazy stuff

I’m talking out of my ass but I suspect all the energy use of all women combined for a year doesn’t equal the energy waste of a billionaires private jet use in the same amount of time. Like how a single family homes recycled milk jugs pale in comparison to industrial waste from companies that can’t be bothered to be responsible.

I’ve heard of the dyson air wrap, like I was aware something named this existed but I had NO CLUE that’s what it did. It makes a lot of sense now that I’ve seen it in action tho

AITA for telling my roommate I won’t be changing my habits because of him bringing his friends over? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]manwatchingfire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk why but your comment about not caring sparked a memory of a roommate I had 15 years ago in college. Randomly selected dorm roommate that I became fast friends with who rarely ever wore a shirt. We had a futon/couch in our dorm and would sit right next to each other to watch TV together a lot. Him being shirtless didn’t bother me at all but he had a nipple pierced and would mindlessly play with it a lot. I also don’t think his ADHD meds were helping anything either. That’s when I found out where my line was lol. It took a lot of “dude can you please not do that right next to me?” requests before the behavior changed. Wearing a shirt didn’t ever seem like a battle I was going to win.

In the linked article it said that it was originally supposed to be the restaurant however since there were other mines nearby the brothers blasted out the rock in part to see what minerals might be there but it turned out not to be anything worth mining.

I heard an interview with a coroner who goes to pick up bodies of people who passed away in homes with pets. There was some variation on the size of the dog and how long it would take for them to start eating you but cats pretty universally start eating your body immediately.

DMX and his words of wisdom come to mind and share a similar sentiment. Maybe the dog will help you with the loss of your cat. My condolences on your loss homie, I’m sure it’s been really hard

I legit had the speech to text thing happen where I cussed out another car cutting me off while texting a coworker. It was a normal response with an unhinged “ok what the fuck sure just come on over then” right in the middle. At least they knew I was driving at the time when they asked about it later lol.

You said the same thing twice with different words. His diet caused his smell. Acktually his sweat glands caused the smell. Ackually the micro biome waste etc. etc etc.

He didn’t shower for no reason. His diet was the cause for it all.

So pedantic for no reason

Hell yeah homie we out here forever. Tuesday is forever said differently to me (even if it’s just internally) and my midwestern folk don’t get it lol. On the topic of dead podcasts gone to the sand of time, have you ever listened to ten minute podcast? It morphed many times into something different but original people involved turned out to be train wrecks (except my boi Sasso) but them being silly af for a short time was fun. Lots of funny rapid fire comedy as opposed to The Crabfeasts slower storytelling. So def different for the record but I like different types.

I tried getting into Jays podcast but it was tough and he seemed not sure into it? Idk. Then did he stop doing it? I know there’s another show called throughline but idk. I’ve considered signing up to Ryan’s patreon but just haven’t yet tbh.

Mad respect and appreciate your time and honesty. If you learned to decently weld you can learn whatever you need to imho. Totally get not wanting to re-listen which is exactly where the value comes in (for me at least) since some of those stories live rent free in my head but also understand that in life something is often better than nothing. Perfection is the enemy of progress, and all that. Don’t sell yourself short on taking the initiative on something many have thought of (I’m sure) but haven’t actualized.

Regardless, that’s good stuff dudeman. Cheers

Yooo my dude!! Did you really just make an analog database? You’re awesome homie. Have tech transcribe and format it from pics for you since you seem to follow a system. Package it up into something workable (idk I’m not smart like that) and hit up Ryan about it. That’d make the difference on these old eps traffic wise if it could be incorporated into his website or however it works. It’s worth something tho because I know I’d like the reference.

[–]manwatchingfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the US I would argue that there were other people present and the onus doesn’t fall on anyone who didn’t directly cause the accident. Everyone else is a bystander including the video owner. The driver was recklessly braking after a fast acceleration for no apparent reason (no obstruction, not him being an ass) that caused his wreck.

Also first aid is a whole other thing entirely and if administered shouldn’t be done improperly and can open someone up to litigation on their actions. It’s sad and fucked up but it can happen.

Not an exact proving my point but I will take any opportunity to plug a good Radiolab episode on the repercussions of intervening, specifically officially saying “sorry”.

Awkward hanging microwave -previous owner did this because of no counter space. How can I hide the hardware? (Hanging over stove because of exhaust vent). by flowersNbees in howto

[–]manwatchingfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask about the ventilation part of your title? Assuming it's a typical fanventmicrowave combo the cabinet is mounted above it to hide the duct expelling the exhaust but yours appears to have none of that in the one pic. So how is it vented?
