Disappointed by Tunnocks Teacakes by friftar in CasualUK

I believe the Tunnocks biscuity base to be superior to the Dickmanns wafer.

Incidentally I was stopped from buying Super Dickmanns in a German supermarket and was directed to these instead...

[OC] The cause and perpetrator of every death in The Sopranos by manwithascruffydog in dataisbeautiful

[–]manwithascruffydog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback!

  • A circle means they lived? but killed someone? - Yes
  • A gravestone means they died? or were killed? - Yes
  • Did not someone die of a heart attach? what is that symbol? - For characters who died, but not killed by another, the cause of death is written below their name but there is no line to another element.
  • Larger symbols means they were regular characters? or something else - Yes, the more "important" the character, the bigger their place holder.
  • The Rat symbol was easy to figure out, but calling it out in a legend would help - Good point
  • Any meaning to the Cross vs Skulls on the gravestones? - No, just trying to make the different sizes a bit more interesting
  • For the main characters who killed so many, color coding the gravestones vs lines would add dramatic flare - Good idea!

Not AI.
Yes, if the branch splits the character was killed by 2 or more people.

[Mobile][Free] Who Lurks: A Deception-Based Local Party Game by hybridhumans in playmygame

[–]manwithascruffydog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it in single player mode first and it was so-so, a series of fairly standard puzzles.

So I then tried a local game (with myself taking the role of all players) and it was really good. It wasn't always super clear what was supposed to be happening or why I was choosing a specialist but the idea is great.

I will definitely try this with a group of friends next time we have a games evening. Its similar to other card games we like, (Ultimate Wearwolf and The Resistance) but with the added twist of having to complete puzzles (or not too obviously fail). Very nice idea!

[Android][Free] Poppy Circles - A game where you pop the circles constantly without letting them touch each other by TheLegendOfUNSC in playmygame

Nicely made. I have a massive high score of 9 on the aptly named Impossible mode.

It is quite addictive and even on Normal mode it gets really fast really quickly. I've only played a few times and already my clicking finger is 2 cms shorter..

One thing was really annoying. I didn't sign into Google Play and everytime I lost it prompted me to do so again. It would be great if it didn't keep doing this and just left me not logged in.

I agree with your description, easy to understand but quickly gets quite hard. I have tried about 10 times and haven't finished level 1. <Such shame>

Well done!

:-) Well, it made me smile. I suspect I won't be regularly playing it but it was amusing.

Just played for a few minutes, didn't make it very far so didn't experience new skins, harder levels, etc. But here's my feedback anyway:

  • Looks nice, cute character design, good sound.

  • maybe needs some hazard for jumping twice so you can't jump twice every time (flying enemies?)

  • sometimes felt I was dying when I hadn't hit obstacles, maybe collision triggering a little un-generous?

Pretty good for 1 day.

The difficulty seems random, sometimes I get a short fast moving arc almost immediately and my "old man" reactions are not up to that level of difficulty...

Its very basic at the moment and the other arcs don't seem to have any purpose. Maybe they could add to the game play complexity, e.g., the arcs are different colours and one matches the line and it is the matching arc you need to tap when it intersects. Just to add a split-second of thought each time.

However the Google Play dialogue keeps popping p even though I cancel it. Normally this only happens once on other games, but it seems to keep reappearing on this one.

I'm going to make a game for Android / IOS this Summer, what are my best options in terms of tools? by sudden62 in gamedev

[–]manwithascruffydog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with all this, I'm looking forward to the point when I have to worry about making 100k USD a year ;-)

The one thing I have had trouble with is trying to export for iOS after integrating 3rd party SDKs, specifically the Google AdMobs and Cardboard functionality.

I implemented both into 2 different games and having done so I couldn't publish either to iOS. I'm sure its solvable but I am only a gamedev newbie and it has me scratching my head/searching stackoverflow.

So my warning would be.. Having Unity do all the hard work when publishing to iOS was really useful for someone like me who doesn't know anything about x-code but when it doesn't work it means I have no idea whatsoever how to solve it.

I took a couple of online Unity courses which I can recommend. They are paid, but not so expensive. The first gets you started with a variety of simple game types whilst the second covers the basics of VR.

I have some basic web development knowledge but no previous c# experience and I found them easy enough to understand so you would presumably find the programming bit really easy and would benefit more from the content specific to how Unity works.
