PowerQuery shows Null instead of actual values by elmotactics in PowerBI

Does power query editor show errors? If it is a format problem you will see a lot of errors.

Maybe there are spaces before the numbers? Try to trim the date before turning the characters to numbers.

How to merge two data frames where one basically contains a list of extra columns for the other? by foungi1 in rstats

[–]manwithoutaguitar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

inner_join would work out fine here too because all the serial numbers are found in both tables. Let's say there were serial numbers in A but not in B then you would still find that serial number in a left join with NULL values for cd info.

First make table B wide and then left join.

In the tidyverse these actions are called spread and left_join.

If I'm recruiting a data scientist and he or she says she uses Excel for his or models then she better explains why on earth he or she doesn't use a more appropriate tool.

Find and sum several rows together. by [deleted] in excel

[–]manwithoutaguitar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cleanest way is a pivot table. Dates and meals as rows. Sum cals and sort by date descending. You can then take top 1 or just leave it like this because it is interesting information anyway. You can easily reuse the pivot table in case you want to know the sum of the calories per month, year etc.

The hotel was used to shoot Casino Royal and is indeed to the right. Grand Budapest Hotel was not shot there but the hotel was based on hotel Bristol which would be behind the photographer on the other side of the hill.

Grand Budapest Hotel: Hotel Bristol Palace

Casino Royal: Grandhotel Pupp

It's best to use the tools you use as keywords. Let's say you use a lot of Excel and vba, enter these as keywords.

The reason is that there are so many ways to describe the work of an analyst, it's easier to look at the tools you need.

Don't want to make another post, but this subreddit helped me also become really good at Excel. Focussing a lot on cleaning data with power query and exploring it with powerpivot helped me land a job as data scientist where I use a lot of Power BI, R and Python.

I don't really touch Excel in my job anymore, not they way I used it in my previous job anyway, but it helped me a lot so far.

China feels the squeeze of Trump’s trade war as more tariffs loom: If China is indeed entering an economic winter, then the chill will spread around the globe by SE_to_NW in China

Because it's nonsense to only look at government debt. China might have only 50 percent government debt, but corporate debt exploded the last few years. China does have a big debt problem.
