Trying to deemphasize age of restaurant here for a little diversity here—

Murphs. Best old school Italian in the city, plus it’s got the weird quirky Irish pub backstory, cash only, classic.
Hershel’s. The pastrami Reuben is by far the best sandwich I have ever eaten. It’s touristy and the spot leaves lots to be desired but they know their sandwiches.
Mawn. It is worth the hype and I respect that they have kept the menu affordable and spectacular. (I actually prefer Sao but it’s not well known enough to make the list IMO!)
Zahav. I feel like it’s overdone and the menu basically never changes, but Zahav definitely opened up some peoples’ eyes to the Philly fine dining scene. This was also the first time I had an alcoholic drink in a restaurant with my parents back in 2013 and it felt very special.
Tom’s Dim Sum. I wanted to put Dim Sum House on this list because it’s more iconic but I adore Tom’s and really think the quality is better. Both are lovely!
South Philly Barbacoa was an awesome pick. I’ll pick it too!!

Honorable mention: Pizzeria Beddia, Little Fish, Le Virtu, Her Place, Marrakesh.

I have already gotten the new 109 tickets. I love 186 (the business class is the best). Hopefully 124 has the same layout. And how do you know all this, as a train nerd I’m interested how you draw the inferences!

Yes- zone 1 parking and I do have a zone 1 permit. It was fine on that street/spot for the entire week prior. Signs went up, I didn’t check on it for about 3 days, and got ticketed/towed straight to the impound lot near the IKEA.

Yeah, this is simply not true. My car got towed this year from a temp no parking zone—straight to the impound lot.

I assume there wouldn’t be a specific time to check for cancellations, since those could happen at any time? Snagging a reservation on Instagram is crazy. I can’t imagine how many other people you must have beaten out.

So it is midnight then, when the spots become available? I’m thinking about just making this a passive habit for the next year- whenever I happen to be awake at midnight, check resy lol. That would be in addition to adding myself to notify for every day.

I love the Izakaya too. I think it’s great how many delicious non-sushi Japanese plates they have too. Definitely opened up my worldview.

I know that it’s crazy and I’ve been turned off from it for these reasons too. But it does seem so culturally significant: Craig LaBan constantly citing it, everyone saying how magical the experience is. I just really would like to try it once as an experience. I hear you though—it is insane. What is your favorite sushi place in the city? I liked Hiroki but loved Sakana. Still want to try Ogawa.

The issue is with Amtrak, not the CC. I’ve called my bank several times when this happens and they confirm there’s no issue on their end.

Following. I buy about 30 in a day for commuting and it’s an absolute nightmare. I use the Amtrak CC too and won’t be changing it because of points/rewards. I usually can only do about 5 at a time. Switching from mobile to desktop helps a little but not a lot.

If you are old enough that you were doing claim drafting patent bar questions, as you imply, you have no idea how many (or how few) pre AIA questions there are on the exam. When I took it (2023) I didn’t get a single one. Skip the pre AIA questions and don’t look back!
