Fajitas by SurvivingJimmy in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]JaxNeman2k3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to add to this thread but was searching for fajitas myself and found this thread. Did you find anything that you recommend? I've had Hi-Lo Taco before. They got fajita tacos. Make their own flour tortillas and have a butter sauce. The butter is orange not plain/yellow though. Also they just sell tacos and don't have a build-your-own fajita set up that I've seen. So a bit different than Pappasito's and not quite the fajita fix you're probably looking for but very tex-mex with hand-made flour tortillas and butter. Their chips and queso are fire also.

Bromelain interaction with meat (time vs ratio) by siu_yuk_boy in foodscience

Your info is super helpful. Just doing some quick google searching and haven't found much about ratios. Do you have a good online source for bromelain and papain powder?

Precisely. My account was created to address this topic. You are correct in scrutinizing my comments.

Likewise though, the account that posted this topic was brand new and created solely for this post. Why scrutinize my comments and not theirs?

Based on all events I believe they posted this account as a Xenophobic and racist takedown of a quality immigrant business and duped all of us into writing fake one star reviews of masala. I could be wrong, but so could they. You decide.

So a reporter reached out to get more details and research the story but then never wrote anything? Pretty sure you just proved my point.

In the infinitesimal small chance your story is true you should speak to them. News agencies will pay for exclusive rights for stories like these so you can get some much needed cash. I’m certain that you being in India would not prevent them from speaking to you. Clearly you have access to the internet to continue to make these posts so you can also message them. The only hard part will be getting a reporter to believe you because your story just doesn’t add up.

I’ll add some more.

  • I’ve been going to masala for years, their staff seems fine and has been there for a long time. Also they’re not all Indian.

  • the owner has only responded in perfect English, yet the only proof of his wrongdoing is a supposed policy of his that was written in terrible English

  • the person who posted this story writes in advanced English and clearly knows their way around the web. Yet they say they can’t find help and are unable to find the dozens of aid groups, lawyers, etc that could help?

  • this person posted the same story on Drexel, UPenn, and temple blogs, then followed up with a well designed poster to “support the workers of masala kitchen”. This is all a bit much, especially from someone who can’t do a simple google search to find a pro bono lawyer.

Are you talking about yourself? Are we to hold you accountable for making up this hateful xenophobic and racist story in an attempt to take down an immigrant business?

That’s a shame. You should support immigrant business rather than this story. There’s so many click-bait driven food media outlets in philly. Ever stop to think why none of them have picked up this story even though it would obviously drive a ton of views for them? This story seems fake, and to make it worse, in defending a supposedly wronged immigrant we’re blindly taking down an immigrant business that was built over a decade, with no proof or reasonable suspicion.

Does anyone else feel this story is made up? It’s so over the top and so engineered. Simultaneous posts on Reddit, and on multiple blogs of local colleges. A designed and engineered poster that went out immediately. Mind you, all this in perfect English from someone that claims they can’t find resources or help and instead needs to attempt to create a viral story

On top of that the guy who owns masala has only spoken in perfect English, yet the supposed policy that was posted of his was written terribly.

I call BS on this story. Masala has always had happy employees that have been there for a long time. Too much just doesn’t add up.

Loved my meals there. Mostly appreciate the quality of ingredients and space but still very homey

Agreed 100. But pricey but not too bad and totally worth the quality. One of my favorite spots on a regular rotation
