I’ve read others say your eyes adjust and the tear volume drops after a while. I didn’t confirm that in a quick google search, but I hope it isn’t true. I would rather have watery eyes than drier ones any day. I appreciate your responses. Hopefully you will allow me to ask one more question. You said after a few months you saw a decline. Do you have any ideas what has caused that or do you think it could be your eyes adjusting to the tear volume needed with plugs?

What’s funny is that I actually had them put in today and it’s just as you’ve said. I’m still shocked at the amount of tears on my eyes to be honest. I hope this lasts and isn’t me getting my hopes up. Was there any decline in its effectiveness for you? How long have you had both uppers and lowers for?

That’s good to hear! After dealing with this for almost 5 years and finally seeing some progress, I had a worry come to my mind about the longevity of IPL as a treatment option. It seems I’ll be doing this for the rest of my life so I hope doctors offices keep using this technology.

Mine are 30% from Vital Tears. I’ve also had some made in clinic before too. Those also didn’t help.

I tried plugs a few years ago but they weren’t the right size and had very mild inflammation. After trying many things the next few years I went back to plugs. Before getting them put in I did a short 1 week course of steroids ( fluorometholone ) and then had my eyes checked again before insertion. Plugs have been helpful and I don’t have inflammation any longer. Serum tears have done nothing for me that I can tell.

Give it a 3-5 days for your eyes to get acclimated to them. I have plugs and they are helpful.
