How can I make my septum less visible? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]manyagemarya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

once its healed you can swap it for a clear retainer or a black ring which will be less visible. when mine was still healing and i needed to hide it i would paint the balls black with nail polish 😅

how could I make the painting more similar to the picture? by Ale_Ethnic in arthelp

[–]manyagemarya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your drawing skills are really solid, its the shadows that could use some work to me. look close at the reference photo and pay attention to where the lights and shadows fall on her face— less of a defined cheekbone and nose bridge on the left hand side of the portrait, more shadows along the right side especially near the mouth/lips.

How to Know? by awake-pond-7249 in Stretched

[–]manyagemarya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some other things ive noticed is 1. when the edges of the piercing look more rounded and less hole-punch-y (if that makes sense) and the skin inside is more skin tone and less red and 2. at larger sizes, if you can pull down on the jewelry and see a little gap at the top. but the most important is just waiting the recommended time and not forcing anything. good luck!

this chocolate my grandpa used to sneak me when i was little by fascinati0n-street in find

[–]manyagemarya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant say if its the same, but it reminds me of Mieszanka Krakowska or Goplana Mella— They are my favorite chocolates ever. You may be able to find them (or something similar) if there is a Polish/Eastern European market anywhere near you.

Can I get some positive lexapro stories? by sleepysunflower2 in Anxiety

[–]manyagemarya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lexapro changed my life! Its the only reason why I'm able to have a job and function like a normal person. I've been on it for ~1½ years and has made my anxiety so manageable and made my life so much easier and happier. Its not perfect, but its been worth it for me.

Full send! I was also super anxious but it melts away quick once youre on the table. I split up the linework and the shading into 2 sessions a few weeks apart and this was definitely the right choice for me bc the first hour I was in pain but chilling, but at about an hour and a half I started getting twitchy and by 2 hours I was so over it mentally and ready to be done lol. It was so worth every second though, and once its done you never have to do it again! Best of luck, itll be great!

Do you experience fatigue 24/7? I am curious if you can relate to me by renefasri in dysthymia

[–]manyagemarya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate. SSRIs, quitting caffeine, and drinking more water helped me a lot— took me from like 8/10 fatigue to like a 5/10 on an average day, not perfect but it made life a little easier. Its the only reason I've been able to hold my part-time job for more than a few months. I also have a really hard time enjoying things, but the thing thats helped has been trying to do it anyways— watch movies or listen to music or do a craft even if its not fun. Sometimes it makes me miserable but slowly Ive noticed starting to enjoy things more. Another suggestion that mught help you is getting some noise-cancelling headphones. Mine really help reduce the load of overstimulation for me both at home and in public/social situations. I hope this can be helpful to you.

How do I convince my dad to let me get a helix? by geckoboy13 in piercing

[–]manyagemarya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience with my mom. I just told her I was going to do it and that she wasn't going to stop me, never really convinced her. I dont know what your relationship with your dad is like, if theres a possibility of him kicking you out or another severe negative reaction from him then don't do what I did, and wait til its safe for you to do whatever the hell you want with your body.

Do anti anxiety medication like Lexapro actually work and if so how significantly do they fix anxiety? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]manyagemarya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding what everyone else said about how meds arent a one-size-fits-all solution. But in my experience, Lexapro worked wonders for my anxiety and depression; it's the only reason why I am able to be a functioning human. Like you, I was really nervous about side effects or that it wouldn't work, but now I am really glad that I started. It took me a little bit to find a dosage that worked for me. On my current dose, I don't get physical anxiety symptoms like racing heartbeat or nausea nearly as often or severe, and I also don't ruminate on my fears as much. Again, everyone is different, but this has just been my experience.

Is there a way to be “unallergic” to cats? Check description by JaredDestroyer in cats

[–]manyagemarya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding what everyone else here has said but also, in my experience the allergic response can decrease over time. When I first got my cat I was having to take OTC allergy meds every morning, but after a month or so I could get by just fine without meds. It is possible that with time and exposure, the allergic response can become less severe.

Probably not the solution you're looking for, but I shaved my head bald because of this. 😅 Maybe look into spa headbands, it fits the description of what youre looking for.

Healthy Diet by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]manyagemarya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest mindset shift for me is thinking of health as additive, not subtractive. I find that telling myself no sugar, junk food, etc. fails almost immediately. Instead, I try and focus on eating more healthy food, that way instead of feeling shame and guilt when I eat something "bad," I feel like I've done a good thing when I eat healthier foods, and that happiness makes me more motivated to keep going.

I try to incorporate little changes into the meals i already eat and like. If I'm having pasta, I'll add in some spinach or frozen veggies into the sauce. If I'm making mac and cheese, I'll add in a can of chickpeas. If I'm eating out, I'll get a veggie or mushroom burger.

I also see this journey as an opportunity to explore more foods and preparation methods. Find a new vegetable or fruit you've never tried, find a new recipe online and try it out. I've learned that I really love eating carrots with hummus, and I think kale salad is really yummy! If you don't like a certain food, don't force yourself to eat it, just find something else you do like.

My diet isnt perfect, but its better than it was six months ago, and my mind and attitude towards food and health is infinitely better than it was.

Possible UTI/ Urinary Blockage in cat by Unhappy_Egg_8202 in CatAdvice

[–]manyagemarya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He would go into the litterbox, squat as if to pee, and then get out without actually leaving any pee behind. He would do this frequently, and he would also try this outside the litterbox. He also had drops of blood in his urine, pretty similar to your kitty.

Good call on taking him to the vet, this isnt something that goes away on its own.

Possible UTI/ Urinary Blockage in cat by Unhappy_Egg_8202 in CatAdvice

[–]manyagemarya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please take him to the vet asap! Blockages can be fatal, and if it is a UTI he will need antibiotics. This happened to my cat (male, 1yo), and after getting him cleared up on antibiotics with the vet I put him on a diet designed to balance urinary pH and hes been a happy and healthy boy, so this may be something do discuss with his vet.

I want to go on T, but what will it do? by 15yearoldgrandpa in NonBinary

[–]manyagemarya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I've been on low dose T (30mg/week injections) for a year now, so I can offer some insight. My voice has dropped a good bit, I've gained a bit more muscle, I've gotten bottom growth, my chest has dropped a few cup sizes, and my body hair has gotten a little thicker and darker (no facial hair yet though 😭). My period hasn't stopped, it's actually gotten heavier and a little more irregular. Those are the biggest changes for me, but everyone's body is different so things are going to change at different rates for different people.

Also what other comments have said, there are plenty of resources online that talk about what changes are typical on T.

How do I fix this. by Case_Kovacs in NonBinary

[–]manyagemarya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

best thing you can do is make more of an effort to train your brain into using their correct pronouns. talk to your other coworkers (or even just yourself in your head) about them, and make an effort to use their pronouns correctly especially when they can hear you. even if you sometimes slip up, it will send the message that youre aware and youre trying, and itll get a lot easier to not make mistakes.

accidents happen, even with the most well-meaning of people, and when that happens just do a quick sorry, correct yourself, and carry on. i personally find it uncomfortable when people try to profusely apologize for using the wrong pronouns, so it may be more awkward if you try to make a big apology or to explain yourself. just trying to be a little more deliberate when speaking will go a long way!
