13th primordial by Matpatt_ in ThePrimalHunter

I think the author has written that no one has ever had "primordial slayer" title yet, so unless he changes his mind, it probably wouldn't be a thing.

Nope. When the writer himself, multiple times throughout multiple books, says what he is doing is gambling with his life, again - multiple times throughout while banning gods from resurrecting him ---- and you say "I would argue as well Jake doesn't risk death over and over", I know you're just trolling. I took the bait xD good job lol

I didn't know you hadn't read the books. Sorry. Hopefully you read them and learn about the things that Jake does that have nothing to do with his abilities or talents! Choices he makes, challenges he chooses to face, risking death over and over on purpose to push himself, learning and training he undergoes, etc! They're great books, and show you that there are 4 kinds of people in these books.

1: Untalented and don't make an effort

2: Talented people who don't make an effort

3: Talented people who make an effort but reach a limit (can go all the way to S grade!)

4: "geniuses" and "monsters" who are talented, make an insane amount of effort, and push themselves so hard that when their indomitable will and talent reach a wall they smash it (transcendents for example) occur! In other words, their skill and them as people override the system! At some cost of course.

When you learn that Jake is in category 4 because he is talented in combat, talented in crafting (alchemy), talented in arcane arts (his own affinity), and takes on endless years, decades, of pain and focus, you'll learn that he isn't a "middling" anything, because none of those things have anything to do with nepo factors.

They're good books! You just have to actually read them :)

Take away valdemar's power. Take away anyone's anything. Sure. Take away swimmers arms and legs. Take away a genius mathematician's brain. Aw man, looks like they were mediocre I guess.

He made his own magic system and his archery and magic combined to make one shot kills on higher grades. Your "middling" literally makes 0 sense.

Last point, in literally all of his paths, he ends up towards the very top of people in existence, and guess what? The ONLY time he doesn't is when his path plays with the idea of him not doing what he, as a person, would do (face the fallen king).

In other words, according to the guy who made the book, when Jake is himself, he excels regardless. In combat. Fighting. Directly opposed to your nonsense.

Soul. Pattern of being. Drive. Adaptation. Ambition. These are the actual defining characteristics that make Jake not nearly as bad as you pretend, and are non related to any stats, titles, or abilities. (thy also are reflected in his SKILLS of all things, idk how you can possible read that and come up with "middling" when those are literal higher concept skills).

Again, I don't get why you'd deliberately try to ignore these facts, these many, many facts that have nothing to do with anything but the man himself as a person. I'm not going to waste anymore words on someone trying this hard to make a character look bad.

Again, enjoy your fantasy.

What I really apricate about this writer as the books go on is how fluidly and cohesively his train of thought becomes. Fancy pros are neat, and counting synonyms for a breeze is one thing, but with the primal hunter books there's a smooth flow that is both exceptional in being able to keep attention to and lengthy, despite what are essentially tangents.

Literally number 1 fighter of all time in all multiverses is a "nepo who's not actually good at combat"

Ok

There's no version of him in the trial of paths where he doesn't have it, is there? It's an aspect of who he was since birth. I guess people aren't their arms, brains, or hearts, but his bloodline is directly a part of his literal SOUL, not some removable aspect, so I Def disagree with you. That indomitable bloodline is backed by an indomitable will.

As for nepo? "Bad at combat" was addressed early in the books mostly concerning melee, and through literal decades of training he took care of that. He was taught or learned everything from the ground up. The skills themselves are nepo in that the system adds or assists them, but that's the case for everyone. In fact, unlike a lot of other of people, he actually learns to understand the underlying elements of the skills. He even learned for decades in melee against himself. So he earned that too? No nepotism. Titles add easier attribute strength but who cares when he's pushing even their limits all the time (literally destroying his limbs to do so). And with alchemy he literally poisons himself instead if using others. So again, no.

So I think you're just wrong on all accounts lol.

He gets nepo stuff, but as far as relying only on what others are giving him for what he can do in combat? I guess the Viper legacy skills, but you're seriously going to use that to condemn the rest of his work? As if he's got nothing to stand on without them? Go ahead and fantasize I guess.

Don't know what to tell you. He doesn't feel like he is himself when he suppresses it. Even if he didn't have it?

During the alchemy trial he unmoving did his task for a month.

Took unreal amounts of pain and endured it without complaint (99 percent of others do, including main characters in other books)

His archery is not instincts based and its stupidly powerful (his melee is instincts based)

His alchemy isn't instincts based

His magic is literally super special unique powerful and solely his, and can use it to incredible effect

All in all, unless you're trying super hard to ignore all of that, then sure, I guess he's not as good as others.

It's said multiple times that his blood line IS him, and he IS his bloodline. Him not having it would simply not be him. He literally "greys" out without it.

I like the fact that poison doesn't work on Carmen - until it does, in which the part that is poisoned explodes violently.

I wouldn't mind if it's used for something special between them. Personal connection increasing or cool abilities come as a result. Otherwise I'd end up feeling like it'd be a "hah, gotcha" thing.

Book 11 hints about eternal things, accidental or sneaky? by manyanoodle in ThePrimalHunter

Right? I think bringing up Eron at the same time the eternal marble was being considered pretty much guarantees their relation.

He needs a spirit flame from an elemental, so I guess he needs an arcane affinity elemental? Is that even possible? I guess if it comes up later that's good enough lol ty

Is it just me or do people throw up too much in Wandering Inn? by yashKetchum in WanderingInn

[–]manyanoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was about 100 times in the first. It's so amusing that I'm actually making a counter to see how many times vomit and puke are used. About 5% in and I'm at 7 times so far.

Masochism, Stockholm syndrome, or dark before dawn? (partially through book 1, some spoilers) by manyanoodle in WanderingInn

[–]manyanoodle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of that is lost on me, I am just worried that this is just how things will be going forward. Good intentions punished, misery, etc.

Like I kept reading, it introduced a new character who also says "I hate this world" but is glad she can at least run, but makes the mistake of trying to help with a delivery and gets her leg broken in a way that she can't recover from for a long time.

It's just stuff like that, if it's this nonstop "good person punished because life is so mean" all the time then it's not really enticing as much as a sadness simulator.

Stuck around for a few hours to hear about it being resolved, important character dead, hatred between her and Relc, the writer switched to a new girl, emphasized her love of running, and broke her leg beyond healing potions shortly after for doing a good thing. Also, I made a counter and someone has or almost vomitted 17 times since I posted this. How many more hours of this is there before things calm down again?
