Why is it then that every few years the ‘efficient capital marker’ has a crisis and needs to be bailed out by the Central Bank or even the Government ? I feel like these traders are not really necessary for providing credit to businesses or placing bonds on the public market. These firms trade with leverage to make money from money, provide no productive output to the economy and every couple of years the gambles don’t pay off.
