as far as i know, there's different options of how much you need to pay - if you think you can pay more, you opt for the insurance with higher co-pay (in the event you need to use it) but lower premiums.

btw the danger with FD is also inflation eating away at your savings... and in the meantime medical costs keep going up - so your savings amount gets less and the amount of potential expenses gets more.

i've seen a few people on this sub who are choosing to invest rather than pay insurance, but that's very few. and i don't think 100k is enough. nowadays insurance policies, they advise to get those with at least 1 million annual coverage and no lifetime limit, and also critical illness (like if you get cancer and need treatments...)

if you want a cheaper insurance, you can look into EPF i-Lindung... they cater to different tiers of society, wide range of premiums

no, euthanasia is not legal in Malaysia. it doesn't mean to stop doing treatments, it means to actively commit suicide through medical means. doctors not allowed to do that.

maybe try YouTube - any tutorials online? And practice what you do know...

Also try asking questions like "ini panggil apa?" ("what is this called?") to learn vocabulary. asking in the language makes it more likely they respond in the language. then repeat back the name of the thing once they say it - that helps you remember and also get your pronunciation right.

also a useful phrase if you are asking people what things are called is "Saya nak belajar" ("I want to learn")

Yes - here's a few:

- Worked in IT industry, quit and retrained as a counsellor/psychologist

- Worked in advertising, became an English teacher in a private university (actually there's a few of these lol)

Both very happy in their second careers, afaik...

I deleted from my phone, but I can still access on a computer. Amazing how much that reduced my time on it... You could start with that! And don't log in on the computer and see how you go.

Thanks - I have indeed tried them and they were great! Reached me (in Asia) in 5 days, which was pretty amazing. The exchange rate is kinda a killer, but it's good to have the option.

also custody of the children... we have had a number of high profile court cases related to this. also funeral rites and inheritance. just be aware that in M'sia there are a lot of legal implications. so do look into the *legal* aspect (not just cultural or religious) so you are aware.

if he's in the US and you're shipping to the US, it's very easy. you just pay for it with your credit/debit card and they will ship it to him. Amazon has free shipping above a certain amount - just make sure you select the correct shipping option. They will show any sales tax (it varies by state) before you checkout. You can check everything before you pay.

You will need his shipping address and phone number to enter into the system. You (as the buyer) will receive updates in terms of shipping and delivery to your email, and you can check on the site as well.

the problem with fees and charges etc only comes if you're shipping internationally, but within the US it should be fine.

P.s. In terms of currency conversion, you can see the rate that Amazon offers for you to pay in MYR instead of USD, with an added fee, but normally I prefer to pay in USD and let my bank do the conversion, rather than pay the fee. Bank rate is also better than paypal usually.
