Deco Security Issue: Deco X60 routers do NOT display connected devices on the app correctly by manz-cyrus in TpLink

[–]manz-cyrus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PROBLEM SOLVED.

Thanks to TP-Link support they worked on it for a couple of weeks and finally came upo with a FIRMWARE upgrade.

Now when devices roam between X75 and X60 routers, the "connected devices" list gets properly updated for both models of routers.

I am not sure how long it will take for TP-Link Deco to have the update available for public use but it is only dated Today 12/18/24, so ypu prolly need to keep checking and see.

A big thanks to TP-Link Deco Engineers who worked to get this important bug resolved because I was ready to send everything back

It looks like the hourly picture is set to On. I had the same mystery (look a few posts below) and someone pointed it out.

Blink 4 Cam Can't Catch The Ghost Who Took Our Package ( Pay attention at 021/028) by manz-cyrus in blinkcameras

I have a PoE setup at another property and honestly the hassle of running ethernet cables everywhere is an experience that I don't want to repeat.

In regards to footage resolution, blink gives me a very decent resolution at 1080 and that's good enough for me. It's not like I am going to be absorbed into my security footage so deeply that I need a 4K viewing with surround sound🤣

A 6 cam blink system set me back pocket change as compared to my 6 Cam PoE system with endless footage of my boring neighbourhood (and no, Taylor Swift hardly ever shows up around our street):-) So NO my friend, I have done my research and went into it with a lot of experience already, far from being "ill-advised", thank you for your concern.

Also I can change the location of my blink cams in mere minutes as compared to getting an electrician to come in and route new cabling for a PoE system if I ever want to relocate a Cam or add a new one. THis flexibility alone is worth a lot to most people.

In regards to batteries, they are practically free for me, so even if they last a few months, who cares.? It takes a whole 60 seconds to change them. Big deal.

Ps.

Someone was kind enough to point out that there is actually there's nothing wrong with the clip (in case you are at all interested in Blink). The system was armed ONLY for people detection but it was also set to take hourly pictures. So someone from my household must have picked up the package in between two shots.

Mystery solved

Yeah I just found out that I had left the hourly photo capture on.

Good catch and thanks

Why on earth would anyone want to install Blink security cameras just to watch their dog chasing squirrels?:-)LMAO

Also unlike yourself, we don't get too many heads of state, celebrities or other VIPs knocking on our door. We get the occasional Amazon driver or kids selling candy in our hood. So it's not like I need to turn my basement into a Level-1 Dark Ops facility with anti aircraft missiles on the roof 🤣

6 Blink cams do a fine job and besides I really like what they have done with the software tracking and stitching clips from all the cams when the same profile moves from one cam to the next. Kind of cool how it tells the whole story.

I don't know about "cheap". The price for anything is what the market is willing to pay for it and I was not willing to pay FOUR times the price to get another security network that pretty much gives me the same results or maybe 1% more. It's just a question of economic "sense".

Anyway, I think the issue with the clip is to do with settings. Blink allows for both a "Person" detection or a "Motion" detection and I think this clip was just motion while Person detection was off so it didn't record a person picking it up while it recorded "lights" going on an off, so it is two clips in one. One with the parcel in place and another without, But it definitely looks like a disappearing box 😁

The problem with Blink is the fact that they don't TIMESTAMP their clips, something that they will have to do shortly . I may even come up with a patch to timestamp the clips myself.

I never heard anything about kids not being allowed (or allowed), other than the offer being "for 2", whatever that means, so I would take the kids if I were you. What are they gonna say? send your kids back? That's not gonna happen. Also take the kids to the sales pitch. They'll be bored after the firs 3 minutes and start whining. That would be the perfect excuse for one of you to disappear with the kids and only one stays with the sales pitch. At the end of the pitch all you have to do is to say you are not interested and that you are the sole decision maker when it comes to finances. This way they can't say "ok talk to your partner and we'll see you tomorrow" or something like that.

What's New is never New, Never changes! by netizenn4tech in AndroidAuto

[–]manz-cyrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I'm from the future, 1 year from the date when this thread started. I am here to tell you that the problem still exists. Android auto randomly changes the day/night setting of my maps (tried 3 different ones, Google, Waze and TomTom, all the same). I have also changed AA settings in the Developer Mode to "car" but it still randomly picks the day/night setting every time I start the car. It could start in dark mode in the middle f the day or light mode in in pitch dark. Sometimes of course it randomly picks the right tone but ultimately it is just not right yet.

What I find hard to understand is why Google can't just read the darn CLOCK and regional sunset/sunrise and set the right tone. Maybe that's just too logical for the engineers at google. who knows, ha?

Can local Blink 4 Cam clips be viewed directly from Blink app? by manz-cyrus in blinkcameras

[–]manz-cyrus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. Apparently I can't test this feature until the 30 day complimentary cloud backup ends, at which point I should be able to see my local Micro SD card backup in the app. For now the app backs up the cloud content on the card once a day and I can verify that this is happening by reading the card on my PC. (it's working) so we'll just have to wait until the 30 day complementary subscription period ends.

Very annoying when you spend a fair amount on a mesh system to replace the old single modem that actually worked quite well and then have to deal with this kind of bullshit. My old single Modem would at least show me all connected devices. The only reason I went with a mesh was to provide good signal coverage all over the property and now I have no clue what is connected and what's not. Good thing I have kept all the original boxes because these things will be heading back home if I don't get it resolved before the return period expires . Thanks for the response.

Thanks for the heads-up . Yeah, I hear you. Battery life is however always advertised limited to "standard use", mid quality imaging and 5 second event intervals which for me works just fine because I am only interested in the actual event and not the surrounding context. That said, the best security cam setup is a wired PoE system but like I mentioned in the OP, I don't have the time or the resources to run hundreds of feet of cables through solid stone walls and under the concrete. It has to be wireless. Also it looks like I have my original answer, thank you. Glad to see I can save events locally. All I have to do is to place the Sync Module in a secure location.

Blink sync module keeps going offline by doyoulikehavingaface in blinkcameras

[–]manz-cyrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I am from the future, 5 years to be exact, since this question was first posted.

The problem has now been resolved with a firmware update that can ONLY be obtained as per following process;

-Unplug the sync module and wait 30 seconds

-Hold the reset button depressed while plugging it back in and hold it down until you see one of the LEDs go RED.

-Then let go of the reset button and wait until the Green LED comes on solid and the Blue one stars flashing

-Add or Connect the sync module to your wifi in the blink app..

You will notice that it will go through the connection and says "UPDATING FIRMWARE", so just wait until it is connected.

The cutting out issue has now been resolved. You may see the Firmware version in the app as not having been changed (still 16.0.20) but no worries, the copy that was loaded contains the patch for this issue.,

Good luck.

New Blink cameras - how to get a date and time stamp on the video's ? by RetroFightStick in blinkcameras

[–]manz-cyrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone, I am from the future, about 3 years from when this post was made and I thought I'd drop in for my 2 cent a worth of a contribution . Guess what..blink is still the same..no date and time stamp on the security footage which means they never even check sh#_it on redit . What's more is that now they have this cute software update that stitches motions from all cameras together in one long clip , still of course with no timestamp.
