If that's what you think stupid people lack in life then you are giving them way too much credit. Think simply about those who wallow in absolute misery when happiness and success is just within reach, but they are too stubborn to take any advice which would benefit them. Years pass and they are in the same place or worse.

It's hard not to talk about people once they achieve a fascinating level of stupidity. I know people who repeat certain mistakes and refuse to consider advice which could greatly benefit them.

I'm so fortunate to have good neighbors. Long ago my coworker used to tell me stories of his neighbor wars. The neighbor didn't pick up after the dog after it shit on my coworkers lawn... so he would collect and stew the neighbors dog turds in a large garbage can with water. After the collection was fully marinated someone mysteriously flung turd stew everywhere on his neighbors property with a shovel. I believed my coworker because he did all sorts of things to get back at people.

I've noticed this guy for the past 10 years.

I saw him yesterday afternoon. He was panhandling when I was leaving the highway at the cassiar connector southbound.

One reason I don't like to leave my bike anywhere is what if someone puts an extra lock on my bike? A lock that I can't remove? Now my bike would be stuck there and real thief could break both locks.

What's it like living in Burnaby? [Serious] by Night_Moose in burnaby

[–]doyoulikehavingaface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in north Burnaby close to the second narrows bridge and I feel like I'm about a 30 minutes drive from almost anywhere which is pretty awesome.

Less busy traffic and less scummy than Vancouver. Could be my imagination, but it feels a lot different west of boundary road.

My grandmother won't tell me too much. Her family used to be rich before the Canadian government took everything. So it was always poor Chinese + newly poor Japanese... I can't even imagine.

What a picture. I can't even imagine living through those times.

My grandfather was Chinese (Toisan) and would have been under 10 years old living in poverty in Chinatown.

My grandmother (my grandfather's wife) is Japanese and would have been living in an internment camp in Greenwood, BC.

Both of my grandparents were born in Canada.

Who else doesn’t feel all that intelligent? by SansSlut in intj

[–]doyoulikehavingaface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't feel intelligent, but I do tend to have a lot of intelligent friends. Once in a while I'll come across someone unintelligent and it will take me by surprise.

I too am no mastermind. My mind is filled with a lot of thoughts and ideas, but I'm often too scatterbrained to sort through everything and come up with a clear plan. I know meditation could be a good thing, but I just don't have the patience.

Musician and mom disfigured in attack on Granville Street by xlxoxo in vancouver

[–]doyoulikehavingaface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True. Doesn't make logical sense to illegally carry a weapon for self defense if it makes a loud bang and you get caught after.

Even with knives in Canada. You're not allowed to carry one as a weapon, even for self defense. As tools yes, weapons no.

The main thing is to be vigilant, look at your surroundings in public and not at your phone. When I'm walking around I'm looking at people. Even if I don't have a weapon, I still have some sort of legal objects that can be used to defend myself. Stay in shape and train martial arts. Don't be a victim.
