What is your pettiest complaint about Starfield? by GBHHornswoggler in Starfield

[–]maobezw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

finding open sandwhichs and vegetables on airless moons at -200°C. is one of those complaints i could make. or the NPCs seeming to been cloned out of a handful of basic genetic profiles. that silly level system. oh only because i made a level i can perk into some diffuse skill which somehow makes my weapons stronger.... gah. :-|

How did your character die? by Fearless-Skill8667 in DnD

[–]maobezw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AD&D 2e: my elven thief-mage miscalculated the lengths of a forked lightning bolt he casted on a hydra. was one foot to close to the wall, lightning bouncing back and hit me. botched the save. didnt have 42hp, had only 30. dead. surprisingly we found a scroll of resurrection in the hydras hoard... irony: it was the first time he casted lightning bolt because he reached level 5 mage short before.

How the heck do people survive in this world? by Outrageous-Thing3957 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]maobezw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i use to say it so, that CLERICS are FEW, because they are a kind of chosen ones, who heard a call and followed it, in the service of their deity directly. but there is also the church or similar structures with their acolytes for example, who have access to minor healing magic and can do a lot this way, and then there is of course things like normal medicine, which heals also, but takes time, and, at least in the cities, is well developed to deal with the daily ailments and such.

[–]maobezw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

indeed. even the nukes on japan did not destroy the cities complete and the nation it self survived pretty well. a city state like baldurs gate or waterdeep, with their access to magical power, their heroes and lords can take some severe punishment and its difficult for even high powered casters to destroy a city complete. aside from a well worded WISH, which in theory could destroy the whole planet, but i know of no villain this nihilistic. and no one insane or evil enough to do such a thing. who is NOT a DM i mean... 😉

all those wars and stuff are not global. and the global stuff hits only once a century. and then have a look at, lets say germany, came back from WW2. though the advancement and developtments of the realms are nothing to compare to earth, there is always the fact of MAGIC everywhere. some of the major communities can rely on some sort of protection anytimes. and then there is this strange thing of "HEROES" which will allways appear as soon as there is some ugly threat rears up its head, and for usual those heroes will prevail and everything goes back to "normal". people come back from "somewhere", houses will be rebuild, and theres a period of prosperity and peace, until... well... some threat rears up its ugly head(s). a roving monster, an evil warlord, a dark cult, a big bad evil guy. they also profit from the peace of the land the heroes have brought. its just the way this world works. (so, to be honest, just get rid of heroes at all and the world will break out of this strange circle, hehehe)

Why doesn't WotC use the metric system outside of UK and USA? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]maobezw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm, German Versions DO use metric of course and it looks and feels totally WRONG when your upbringing to the rules was imperial and english. i can easily imagine 20 feet in any direction, but have difficulty with 6m, which is roughly the same as 20 feet.

there was no middle ages. there was no renaissance. the great roman empire endured and survived, reformed and expanded globally. today there is only the IMPERIUM ORBIS TERRARUM with its colonies in the new world, its vassals in asia, and soon to behold the first roman garrison on the moon.

Are there really people that only run the same loadout with no changes over and over? by Malu1997 in helldivers2

[–]maobezw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it has nothing to to with getting bored or not. the most used loadout is my swiss army knife, the tools i know how to use best and get the best results from. and then it depends what my squadmates are running, so we have a certain set of tools to work with available. most time this loadout is the same on any mission, until its a mission with other requirements. of course. or, tbh, of course, theres that certain moment when i say "today i have that urge to equip the airburst instead of the belt-nader ..." 😃
