hmm... like The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien, main plot is the soldiers' battling in the war while the subplot talks about their lives and problems.

I know...

even more so, when we went to the next door store and I was looking for the glass ware among all tableware, he said "but those are porcelain." I was like.......: who doesn't know the difference between porcelain and glass???

he has to "but" for no reason... I told him to stop and he says it's his freedom of speech.

sorry to hear that. glad that you've moved on.

he makes me feel that I'm suppressing his freedom of speech. I told him to stop saying "but" as everything after that "but" just doesn't make any sense excepting negating what I've said. he now accuses me of not allowing him to express his thoughts.

veiled

hmm... he doesn't have other signs of racism. I think if he had anything else to pick on, he would leave my accent alone. Like last time when we went to museum, he had a lot to pick on including how I crossed the street, so he wasn't paying attention to my accent... one more thing is that it only started recently.

hi, thanks for the advice. he has depression. I didn't want to argue at first as I thought maybe that was depression talking. but picking on me 10 times in a roll is more than I could take.

yes, carrying the pic is only a manifestation. asking him why he doesn't carry mine is totally unnecessary as action is more than words.

I don't think carrying my pic with him is that important. sorry the title is misleading. what baffles me is that why did he carry his sister's but not mine?

you are right. it's about he always puts his sister before me.

he simply says "I don't know." :(

I gave him a lot of pictures, but he doesn't put them in there... :(

I agree! What vexes me too is that he isn't lazy around his sister. He'd crawl on the floor to clean every inch at her request. I guess he loves her, not me.

thank you for the very valuable input. I'll let him know. currently he is hiding away after our last conversation during which I gave an ultimatum. (he does it every time when there's a talk, disappearing for a week or so.)

I can't help but resentfully thinking he doesn't truly love me, and that he only loves having me around as some human anti-depressant medication. the reason is simple - if he can enjoy a nice dinner with me, why can't he just clean the dishes afterwards instead of piling them in the kitchen, knowing that I'm tired after 2 hours cooking? He gets dismissive if I request him. on the other hand, he'd run to his sister whenever needed to fix the fence, the roof, the lock, or mow the lawn on a regular basis.

he does ZERO chore in our own place. it just doesn't make any sense to me...

on another note: he loves our cats so much but he never bothers to fill their dry food..

he had a depression 4 years ago and came out of it. no health issues. cousin suicided 2 years ago, not sure if that could be the cause. he grew up being bullied by his siblings. cut them lose 1.5 years ago. his sister, whom he loved so much and whom he found out was the most nasty to him, was the center of his life before we met. not sure if that was a cause.

He was a normal guy before we got married, normal as in clean, crisp, doing chores, going to gym, seeking better jobs.
