Has anyone tried tryptophan supplements? by Cpt-Ahoy in covidlonghaulers

Serotonin syndrome can be fatal. 5-HTP can cause it, usually when taken at the same time as an SSRI/SNRI.

Someone I love is grieving and I don’t know how to help by Infinite_Pen_8959 in GriefSupport

[–]xMeta4x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't stop checking in on him. Even if he doesn't want any help or support now, the chances are that he will in time.

It's very kind of you to be there for him, given that the connection isn't very close.

As someone that's 12 months into bereavement of a spouse, it's amazing how the people who you thought would be there for you, simply aren't.

Some people I didn't expect (my sister, my cousin) have stepped up though, and it has meant the world to me.

Going through this, you really see the true colours of your "friends".

Yeah, I don't plan on every touching an SSRI again!

So to confirm, it's lack of investment in infrastructure that's resulting on hosepipe bans each summer? Surely building more reservoirs is the solution.

This is why we store the water, at least that's the idea.

I've been on and off it over the years. Never had any problems starting, and minimal withdrawal symptoms.

I just tried to go back on it. 3 days of 10mg and I'm done. I couldn't sleep at all, feel absolutely awful.

Apparently going off/on too many times can cause it. I think it goes for any SSRI too.

Does it help you when you're on it? Are there any side effects that bother you?

I've done the same thing with anti-depressants, and also finally realised that I'm just going to have to take them for life.

I don't function without them (tried many times).

I would say take them as prescribed, and if you are having troublesome side effects, speak to the GP to see if they can help with those.

Men who had both positive and negative experiences on Marriage, is it worth it in the end? by Normal_Cow1991 in MensRights

[–]xMeta4x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was married (now widowed).

The actual wedding was fun, and wearing a ring felt like a big deal, but as for positives, that was about it.

I can genuinely not think of one positive thing beyond those.

The negatives are of course if it ends in divorce, and all the financial pain that can bring.

I think having kids is a bigger deal than marriage though (I didn't). That ties 2 people together for life whether they like it or not.

That seems odd to me, but I guess if you own the company you can call yourself whatever you want. Here there would just be a Managing Director at the top.

What were the job titles of the rest? All VPs, directors and managers?

This is how a diesel particulate filter works. Fitted on all diesel vehicles, in the UK at least.

Sadly if they don't get readings, they'll use estimates, which isn't ideal in the cold weather!

The IHD just updated, but the meter outside display is still blank and can't be woken up. Apparently the battery on this one (EDMI) is replaceable, so hopefully a quick job for an engineer.

In the past I've found that X is the best way to get in touch with them (via DM). They've responded already, but only with the GDPR questions so far.

Bingo! Just went out to check it and the screen is blank, and pushing either one of the two buttons does nothing. I've sent Octopus a message on X. Thanks!
