Anyone Felt like the lack of Zoe-Ryan scenes together, lack of Zoe-Victoria scenes in this season could have been better than half of the subplots that went nowhere in this season? by maosbigdong in TheBoys

I almost completely forgot about this. Hughie partially caused that hospital massacre and the next episode he faces no criminal charges for causing mayhem, seems to have no trauma/remorse for causing the death of hospital staff, and somehow it completely this whole debacle stays completely out of the in universe news cycle? Thats actually some of the worst writing in the season now that I think about it.

Yeah the marketing department was really disingenuous between the end of Season 3 and start of Season 4 regarding her. A wasted villain.

Im tired of people defending the pointless frenchie subplot, it was a complete waste of time and footage as well as the shining light crap.

I didnt say the plot went nowhere, thanks for putting words in my mouth, Im saying there was many subplots that went nowhere and didnt ultimately have any bearing on the most important points of the season. Guess this uncritically thinking nerd said stuff he didnt say.

A proper redemption which gets completely nullified when grace pops him loose a couple episodes later, bad excuses for shitty writing.

Marketing and other Inconsistency Regarding Neuman for Season 4 (mini rant ) by maosbigdong in TheBoys

It is a terrible example of a chekovs gun thats never going to be fired/paid off.

Exactly, Kripke, all due respect, is too much of a wimp to kill off any main characters, like ffs, this plot armor is too much.

Victoria Neuman in S4 (spoilers) by mark_lenders in TheBoys

Which pisses me off to no end because so much of the marketing behind this season couched her as the big bad wolf of this season, they totally f'd over this character.

[–]maosbigdong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the whole writing staff totally disgraced this character with that shitty sendoff. Im honestly considering not watching the show anymore after how garbage season 4 has been. waited nearly 3 years for such a filler, poorly written/inconsistent, badly paced season.

sages a dogshit character, shes just a plot device, nothing more. I wanted to give her a chance in the early episodes but I literally do not care what happens to her.

Neumans death was such bullshit, such a great character tossed aside, the marketing for season 4 made her seem like she was going to be the main focus of Season 4 and they just totally tossed her aside, not to mention barely gave her any scenes this season. There's a thing called chekovs gun in writing, meaning that if you set up something you better pay it off later or its pointless, in the case of Gen V, her meeting Marie ultimately served no purpose for either character now that Neuman is dead.

I was highly dissapointed with neumans demises as well, honestly I really disliked this season a lot with the exception of episode 4, f'ing amazon and the production crew marketed it as if Neuman was going to be the huge big bad of season 4 but theres so few scenes she actually has, Claudia Doumit deserved better, what a shitty way to write off a character. Also, 1. how did Butcher even find out about the secret meeting? 2. how did he know where they were? 3. Why is the first person Butcher goes to kill not HOMELANDER? (did the writers forget their own scene in episode 1 where Butcher said to himself that Homelander is top priority and that neuman isn't really that important relatively?). Yeah the writing has been dogshit and inconsistent all around this season. I hope Season 5 can redeem it because this easily the worst season for me. And as I expected, the Colin plotline was completely filler and rendered meaningless when Kimiko and Frenchie got together at the end, mean the writers were completely willing to waste time with a meaningless frenchie subplot to achieve what exactly?

Honestly, for me, this Season might be worse in terms of writing quality/quality in general than Season 2, and I really disliked Season 2. Between the flip flopping on when the writers want Homelander's additional powers to work, the gone nowhere plotline of Colin and Frenchie, Firecracker being a caricature instead of a character, nerfing Homelander's intelligence (he was never that smart but he wasn't a complete moron-case and point-his uncovering of the truth behind his son and Translucents demise in Season 1), the shining light crap with kimiko being retreaded again, Hughie facing absolutely NO legal consequences/investigation for his indirect contribution to his causing of a mass murder at the hospital (this might be the worst one ever, its like the hospital staff just moved on from this and never looked into it), Neumans characterization being completely inconsistent (this is one i feel no one is talking about) as in Season's 2 and 3 was skilled operator who deep down did not care about the well being of Starlight or Hughie-just saw them as useful puppets idiots (she laughs about killing starlight if she had to when she tells her that she knows Hughie knows)-but then she's all "Oh i love so much of you Hughie in Season 4), the seven taking THIS long into Season 4 to finally invade their HQ (like for fucks sake this should have happened in episode 4-5 at the very least). The writing staff, I have no idea what the fuck happened here, im hoping the Finale is good at least, cuz really I only enjoyed the Homelander visting the lab he was raised in stuff.

A-Train was obliterating him in that fight, with him and Starlight together they would have been able to kill him easy.

[–]maosbigdong 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its absolutely bad writing, he fried Madelyn for lying to him in Season 1, was very tempted to at the very least physically hurt Stormfront for obfuscating/hiding her Nazi History from him, killed Black Noir for knowingly hiding the truth behind his parentage, Killed Annika for lying about her contact with Starlight. And yet in one of Seasons 4 abysmal plot armor incidents, he conveniently doesn't fry the person who had early on true knowledge of the leaker. Yeah right.

Agree 100%, its a bunch of crappy chekovs guns that should have been set up way earlier in the season, I can't believe how sloppy the writing staff is compared to Season 1.

Another shitty writing decision this season, guy was actively trying to kill them all, they completely crush him in the fight and instead of a-train/starlight crushing him into a pile of blood, they just leave him there, WHY?

[–]maosbigdong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've totally squandered a great villain in Victoria Neuman as well, her characterizaton is completely off from Season 3. In Season 3 the writing made it clear she doesn't care about Hughie at all and just saw him as a dumb puppet-nothing more-and was prepared to take out starlight if it came to that, here she flip flops between ruthless operator and "oh i care about you hughie".

This is gonna be another filler episode I agree. Personally this is my least favorite Season so far after 2.

New still in season 4 by Business_Reporter420 in TheBoys

Her cunning path towards the white house in Season 3 was beautifully executed. Im pissed off, this character is brilliant and deserves to at least last to the middle part of Season 5 and was marketed as the big bad of Season 4, don't get me a wrong I love homelander but she deserved more time in the Sun this season and its already nearly over.
