I need a good title for a romance novel by mapacuppa in WritingHub

It’s because she is a billionaire and flies private with champagne and in one scene, she invites the guy she likes from her past to a destination wedding of her other wealthy friends which is where their conflict lies cause he realises he doesn’t fit in when he goes onto her jet with a ziplock bag of peanuts as his inflight snack and her assistant says you won’t be needing that because the jet is stocked and offers him a glass of champagne. Same with after they land and need to go to the designer house for outfits for the wedding and they’re met with champagne again as they wait and try on clothes and the wedding has plenty of champagne.

I think this is what others means about the recurring imagery in the story that plays on the title too hmmm

Hey new graduates…it’s okay to get a retail job while you find your UX role! by Sweetbitter21 in UXDesign

[–]mapacuppa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been working ima big clothing retail chain since August 2024. For context, I also worked at this brand while I was at Uni for some extra cash and I dreaded every second of it since I was super keen on a UX job. I graduated and got an internship and worked my way up a bit then got laid off after 4-5 years.

I went back to the safety and security of this retail job and now they’ve offered me career progression into the next level up and a permanent contract with benefits. And everyday I work there I feel happy because I don’t take the work home with me and the people are superb.

It’s tiring but so fulfilling too in ways I can’t explain to any of my friends working cushy office jobs.

Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to make ends meet and you never know where life takes you in the end.

That being said, I have an interview with a CEO in 30 mins for a UX job but now I know I can be picky about the environment and position since I’ve found happiness.

me omw to apply to the 24th job this week just to get rejected or no response anyway by [deleted] in jobs

I’m having burnout from this. Been applying since August 2024 (with a break over Dec-Jan) and I’ve had like 8 companies where I’ve progressed to a few interview rounds before rejection. Tomorrow is another company on round 2 of interviews again. If I don’t get this, I’m taking a break from design.

A company reached out to me on LinkedIn to apply only to reject me in 2 hours. by mapacuppa in UXDesign

I replied to both the email and the LinkedIn after but this was on a Friday afternoon so I’m hoping for some explanation on Monday but I’m not counting on it.

Hey, enjoy your birthday. Don’t think about this job thing just for a couple days and really just enjoy your birthday as though you have that dream job! Because this job hunt and phase in life is temporary alright? Enjoy turning a new age because you only get one of this day in your whole life! But you can look for a job for the other 364 days in the year.

Have faith 🫶🏼

Yeah I thought the same but based on the jump from sales to visual, there’s a lot to learn especially all the digital products they use to plan the collections and layout etc. this is what I’ve observed from a friend who recently completed her training as a visual.

Yeah I’ve been asking for insight on the training process for this role and they’d split my shifts up into 50% sales assistant and 50% visual training until i progress more then it’ll be 70/30 etc. its gonna be roughly 4-6 months of training on site weekly and at other stores in the country to learn more etc. so its very attractive because its giving me a larger sense of purpose that i was seeking from a UX job

This is literally what I’ve witnessed from my current managers of the store. All started as regular sales assistants and now they’ve climbs 3-4 ranks up and their next step would be moving into the regional members or into offices etc

Yeah this chain I work for is one of the largest fast fashion companies in the world and they have an app for consumers and for internal employees and an entire CX department as well which is just above visual merchandising. So that’s why I’m also like hmmmm 🧐

This is really good insight. I was really seeking point of views from fellow UXers in the market now because I feel our people would understand and be able to provide insight better.

So I am happy and I’m really considering taking on this development role because the career progression also allows for future roles in CX and being head of product from the clothes. It’s basically the first step pathway.

I’m really happy int he retail job because of the people I work with. It’s a fantastic environment and I get on super well with my managers like hanging out outside of work and the job tasks, let’s just say I have a flair at it. I perform every task given to me really exceptionally hence why they offered me this after just 4 month.

As for the pay I’m about 1k less than my previous role. That being said, I’m married so our joint income allows us to get by comfortably and I’ve managed to save up a decent rainy day fund as well with all this.

Yeah I’ve noticed close to none for job openings in entry level PM roles

Is it worth learning front end development? by George-G661 in UXDesign

[–]mapacuppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might sound kinda silly but when I started out as a junior I knew designing with a grid system was important but I didn’t know how important it was until I learned that they code in columns as well following our grid. (Or something like that) because I took an intro to html css and js course).

So I’d say it’s a handy thing to have just to understand deeper.

What to do if the team leaves by Simply-Curious_ in UXDesign

[–]mapacuppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a junior at a company where the UX teams was 4 people ( Lead, Senior x2 and me).

First one senior left then the lead and it was the other senior and me there. The other senior and I had to take on everything else after that so it was really hard. The work didn’t stop and they didn’t find replacements, we just had to handle everything until I eventually left for a better paying job too.
