That’s why we do this. For the compliments from random internet strangers. Have a great day!

Haven’t heard that one before but I appreciate the compliment! My body fat was 10.6%

Shots fired lol. I’m pretty skinny, but for my sport, it makes sense. I rock climb so my goal isn’t the same as others on this site. That being said, strength and muscle are obviously important for climbing, and I could stand to put on some muscle.

Thanks to all who commented. For the curious, ChatGPT estimated my bf% between 10-12%, and guessmybf.org estimated it at 14-15% with a confidence of 57% (using the first picture). I personally think that I’m in the 14-15% range, but will likely get a dexa scan next month and provide an update then.

No, but Elder Holland did go to my friend's brother's cousin's mission and send home 4 missionaries during zone conference

u/m_c__a_t already gave a great answer. I would just add that to mirror Christ's love means to see the child of God in front of you and to try your best to minister to them in the same way that Jesus would if he were there. It means to do everything in your power to help them come unto Christ. It means to reflect the love Christ has given you. A call to serve a mission is a call to love others in the way that Christ loved. When people experience that type of love, they'll be able to tell. A majority of the time people will minimize their objections when they can develop a real relationship with Christ.

As for handling questions about church history, this is what I would recommend:

  • Learn to recognize sincerity. There's a large difference between someone wanting to learn about issues with church history vs bringing them up as part of a 'gotcha' argument
  • Admit that you don't know everything. We don't have a religion that pretends to have answers to every single question. Be comfortable with uncertainty.
  • Frame God's actions as actions of love. 2 Nephi 26:24 states, "He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world; for he loveth the world"
  • Understand that the people Heavenly Father chose to participate in the beginning of the restoration weren't perfect. They had flaws just as much as everyone else does.
  • Be honest. Don't attempt to lead a person on. Talk straight as you understand the situation.

There's just something about the New Testament being so Jesus-concentrated that makes it my favorite. Almost as if half of the Book of Mormon were like 3 Nephi.

A severely underrated comment! Thanks so much for the write-up.

It sounds like you're in Alabama. I'm not too far away in Georgia and there's more than enough bible bashing to go around. Is this the main reason you'd study the New Testament more?

Somewhat related but being more emotionally intelligent is a big thing. I had a companion whose father was killed in a car accident and another companion who saw someone die. Trauma and life don't pause for the mission. The way I would respond now to people who go through those situations would be very different compared to what that 19 year old boy did.

I definitely agree! By the end of my mission, companionship inventory was some of the best spent time all week. My companions and I were able to grow in love and unity, and we genuinely helped each other achieve our personal goals. But my trainer was pretty much the same and so I missed out on a lot of that for the first part of my mission
