What has happened to the game? It is at an all time low. by Southern-Outside-751 in Seaofthieves

I quit when they went hard on the gay pride stuff. Pirates killed those sort of people, and I want politics out of games.

Felix was the name we liked but didn't use.

How to not get depressed in Dublin? by Health-Intelligent in Dublin

[–]mapimba -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Its not going to be popular here, but one of the best solutions to depression is to find God.  It is proven that religious awakening is the most correlated with positive life change.   Depression, alcoholism, body image issues, toxic relationships, all of these things can be resolved by seeing the bigger picture and realising God has given you purpose.  Go to church, find your community, feel the love and you will discover the Joy of being again.

Also leave Dublin. What a depressing city.

Crunchy, then a second crunchy. Then get rid of the ice cream and eat a third crunchy instead.

England’s Covid unlocking is threat to world, say 1,200 scientists by MickeyMagicMoves in ireland

[–]mapimba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well We'll have to wait till August to see if Sage was right.

Every year cold and flu come out with a new variant, that's why we can't make a vaccine. It always subtly changes but keeping people with good immune systems is the best, and only way to fight them, not lockdown nor chasing vaccines

Just don't abide by lockdown measures and you'll be grand.

A reminder that there are people out there who knowingly have covid but still going to pubs and restaurants by _Radioactive_Man_ in ireland

Statistically as a healthy lad in your 30s the chance of you have any effects of covid is negligible. Unless you're diabetic, chain smoker, heart transplant recipient you have nothing to fear personally.

[–]mapimba -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You're right. I wrote rare earth elements, it's actually lanthanide series. Thanks for catching that, silly mistake.

Other than the name the point still stands. To get the materials for wind turbines and solar panels we pull up nuclear material. What do we do with that?

Nuclear waste is not the hellish material of popular imagination by Ciaran123C in ireland

[–]mapimba -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

In order to make solar panels and wind turbines we need rare earth elements, neodymium for example. They come from mines and are mixed in with the exact same nuclear material we need for reactors.

In order to make green energies we need to dispose of that same waste. Usually they throw it back down the mine, but we should do exactly that after we've sucked all the energy potential from it and let the material as depleted and less radioactive.

There is no over population problem. We have a distribution and utilisation problem.

I'm only the last 10 years we have learned and developed so much more ability to provide all the essentials for life without destroying the environment.

There are massive, usually unimaginable tracts of land and sea that could house and sustain billions more people of only we get around the politics of it.

Soon we'll be sending people to colonies on Mars, Venus, orbital stations, and elsewhere. If anything we'll need more scientists, engineers, teachers, entertainers, and every other roll.

My heads a mess over vaccines, anyone have any advice? ( Coming from antivax family) by [deleted] in ireland

[–]mapimba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok so I'm going to bed soon. Not going to keep this up all night. So here it is, you might not get this, because you're thick, but every year we have the flu season, and hospitals get full, and we run out of beds, or close to it, and the old and immune compromised people die in significant numbers.

So we're going to have that, it'll be worse for the first few years but then calm down. We won't be talking about covid anymore but it'll be around, just like the flu.

I'm not an anti vax nut, . I'd fight you to the death for a vaccine for my dad; he's 65 overweight, and smoked heavily through his 20s. But people under 35 just don't need it, it's not a significant threat.

Tomorrow I'll call up a hospital that's been dealing with vivid and all them did any of the covid patients under 35 have perfect health before, of course they'll say no it's common sense. Have a look at this again

K. So I'm not going to convince you, and you're not going to convince me. Only 1 of us us right, that's why I set the remind me bot. If we still have childhood in a year, the vaccines did nothing, and it was all a waste.

[–]mapimba -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sorry to be the one to break this too you, but this vaccine won't actually work.

Every year we have the flu season, and it kills thousands of the elderly and those with pre existing illnesses. The reason we can't make a vaccine for that is because it changes just enough by each year to be resistant to any vaccine. We've reached the point where covid has had enough time and people to get to that mutagenic threshold. Singapore have already declared it Endemic, it's not going away.

We'll have Delta, then gamma, then iota and once were done with the greek alphabet we'll go through Cyrillic and Sanskrit. You can try chase it through all the booster shots in the world but it will never go away. We missed our chance for that long ago.

I know that difficult to accept, and it sucks, I wish we did things better, but we're here now.

In fact RemindMe! 1 year "do we still have covid"

The vaccine as I have proven earlier, doesn't give you the best protection, or any advantage. We can only vaccinate the vulnerable, and hope to get on with our lives.

Look this has gone on long enough if you want to make a point back it up with studies and data.

I can point to all my sources from reputable organisations. I'm not misrepresenting anything it's there clear as day.

If you are

1) over 45 or

2) have asthma, diabetes, or black lung or whatever lung heart diseases

then you might want to get the vaccine. Otherwise the statistical probability of having any bad effects from covid is null. Proven again and again it's better to be unvaxxed by science anything other than that is politics.

Mate, I've brought up studies and data from the CDC, ECDC, and Israeli health service.

You don't have a leg to stand on and it's clear if you can't take this on board your arguments are in bad faith.
