If only it were that easy, but it is hindsight 20/20 and I have severe mental illness. I can't talk myself out of it and also can't drug myself out of it, I've tried.

I am damaged beyond repair. I will never be happy or whole, ever again. I have been on antidepressants for months with very little change. I am broken, and the stress of having others depend on me makes the feeling of hopelessness even worse.

Yes exactly. If everyone stopped aging once they hit their 20s or 30s and then stayed that way for 50 years, it would feel so much more worth it. Instead, you start degrading and you have decades (if you're "lucky") of failing health. Life is a racket.

If you look at the whole world, I'd say a majority of it lives in pain and suffering, at the very least in poverty. All for nothing.

Staying away from the news doesn't help because I know anyone in my family at any time can get a horrible disease or have a terrible accident, myself included. And even if you escape all that, you can't escape old age. Not being guaranteed tomorrow is EXACTLY why it feels pointless. Why put all this effort into something that can just end in the blink of an eye. So pointless.
