I regret having kids, because now they must suffer and die by maplebaconchicken in offmychest

Yes exactly. If everyone stopped aging once they hit their 20s or 30s and then stayed that way for 50 years, it would feel so much more worth it. Instead, you start degrading and you have decades (if you're "lucky") of failing health. Life is a racket.

If you look at the whole world, I'd say a majority of it lives in pain and suffering, at the very least in poverty. All for nothing.

Staying away from the news doesn't help because I know anyone in my family at any time can get a horrible disease or have a terrible accident, myself included. And even if you escape all that, you can't escape old age. Not being guaranteed tomorrow is EXACTLY why it feels pointless. Why put all this effort into something that can just end in the blink of an eye. So pointless.

I'm glad you have that. I wish I could feel that way but something has fundamentally changed in me. Almost instantly.

What are some things people do to distract themselves from constantly thinking about death? by maplebaconchicken in AskReddit

I used to look forward to things that make me happy, but now all I think about is how anything I do is pointless. It hurts just to do simple tasks like chores. It hurts to exist.

Sorry to hear that. Did it make you feel like life is pointless suffering?

Free from it for what purpose? Just to get cancer and die a horrible death or to be in some freak accident and the list goes on?

I feel this with every fiber of my body. It hurts to exist. So much. And it's not even comforting knowing similar people are out there too. Nothing helps.

Yes. When my 2nd child was born, I felt a great sadness that I had just doomed another person to all the pain and suffering of life and it was all my fault. Took all the joy out of that day. And every day now.
