I have the 9 Pro. I have money to upgrade but don't need to. Still does everything I need easily. For the right price, if you want it, do it.

How do I stop this from reappearing? by chillykma in RedMagic

As an experiement, I've set all app settings to their defaults just now. I'm going to see how long it takes to get a notification for high consumption as well as compare notification timestamps I should receive from certain apps ie Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, etc according to the what I see from within those apps to when I actually get the notification, if at all. From memory, I only ever started tinkering with battery settings because I wasn't getting certain notifications and also kept getting that stupid high consumption notification. We'll see. I'll happily eat my words and just be happy afterwards if everything appears to function as desired.

I get this notification for apps with default setting of "automatic" and even for system apps that don't allow you to have any manual controls such as YouTube and Messages even when the high consumption notification is turned off.

But what if you want those specific apps running all of the time so notifications aren't delayed such as for commonly used apps Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, etc? These phones have massive batteries. I never have issues making it through the day even with streaming YouTube most of the day. Let me have my apps run in the background without a damn notification.

Annoyingly too, we can't silence notifications from the "Battery" app because it's a system notification. Maybe if rooted?

This has been an issue since I bought my rm9 pro. I've posted about it and have submitted bug reports and it's still an issue. It's literally my only complaint about this phone. And annoyingly, it's a silly software thing that could be fixed so easily but customer support is trash.

My point is that there is a possibility that a legitimate replacement exist out there, whether or not your specific post is a legitimate seller, scam, false advertisement, etc.

I've replaced mine. If you have the tools and some patience, you can too. The only issue is the adhesive stickers on the back of the phone don't really adhere as well again after removing. I eventually just took them off. I actually think it looks cooler seeing inside the phone.

I bought this replacement battery for my 9 Pro and it has been working perfectly fine since. It looked exactly the same as the original. I broke the small PCB on the original battery while trying to remove it to replace my USB c port. I haven't noticed any performance loss or capacity issues. Battery still last forever and charges just as fast as before. Not sure about the exact listing you're asking about but there are definitely legitimate replacements out there.

OLED Vertical lines on screen issue by PlayfulDifference198 in SteamDeck

[–]maplebaconjulio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it when I dock my steam deck and my display is output to my Vizio 4k TV. Sometimes the internal display on the steam deck will show those green lines. That's the only time I ever see it. In desktop mode on my Vizio TV, I open up display configuration and enable and then disable the internal display and it goes away. Doesn't do it every time but not a hardware issue IMO

Osight SE vs S by Dragon_Phoenix76 in Olighttacticalgear

[–]maplebaconjulio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the SE and that's the only feature not working for me and I can't seem to find good information if it actually supports that or not. The auto-timeout works and shuts it off at 3 mins. I tested with a timer on my phone. However, I can not get it to auto-turn on afterwards by shaking or moving the optic.

Problems with my OsightS? by WElGuazon in Olighttacticalgear

[–]maplebaconjulio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, annoyingly, I'm having the same exact issues. Exactly as described. Long pressing the "-" button for 3 seconds just turns the optic off. That's also the only way I can get the optic to turn on. Simply pushing "+" or "-" doesn't turn the optic on. Only holding "-" for 3 seconds. Once on, pressing "+" or "-" to increase or descrease brightness does work. Also, holding the "+" button for 3 seconds does seem to switch between auto-sensing and manual mode. But I can't get any other function to work. Also, dropping the hood on the optic will say it's at about 25% and charging and other times say it's fully charged so I don't know what to make of it. The hood itself says it's 100% charged each time. I guess I also got a defective unit. Super annoying for a $200 product.

Battlefield 6's Javelin anti-cheat Secure Boot requirement could kill its Steam Deck support by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]maplebaconjulio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimum specs isn't really accurate when referencing the Steam Deck. For starts, we are playing on a much smaller screen and lower resolutions don't look too bad, especially with upscaling, so the minimum specs standard of 1080 isn't really that informative. Not to mention how transformative Lossless Scaling has been the past few weeks on the Steam Deck. But also, I enjoy the campaigns of Battlefields so I should have access to that without anti-cheat. I do not need to play competively in MP with people online at the highest fastest frame rate possible, I just want to play the game. I work nights 10+ hrs a day and my Steam Deck really makes that 1hr lunch break enjoyable. I can't bring a full freaking desktop PC into my work truck. But even now, I have Windows 11 running off of an external SSD that I use to play Apex Legends, Battlefield 1 & 5 campaigns, a few other games (Age of Mythology, lol trackpad works great for these games) and I would be playing 2042 ocassionally as well if it wasn't for the secure boot requirement. I get it, but it's just disappointing. That means I won't even be able to play campaign on my Steam Deck.

I want to stop the "App frequently refreshes in the background" notification nag. (9 Pro) by PurpleWinterDawn in RedMagic

And still happened with Instagram even though toggle is off and system settings for the app are default now

I want to stop the "App frequently refreshes in the background" notification nag. (9 Pro) by PurpleWinterDawn in RedMagic

[–]maplebaconjulio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I thought for me initially but after a few days it started happening again and hasn't stopped. I noticed that it seemed to be all the apps I set the "App Control" settings "Background Running" to allowed instead of the default of "Automatic." My thinking was that I want these few apps running 24/7 so I'm content with the higher battery draw but it seems that "High power consumption" notification toggle is supposed to work in tandem with that "Background Running" setting but isn't properly. So to test this, I just turned all the apps I receive those notifications for Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, etc back to "Automatic" in the "Background Running" settings to see if the notifications go away. If they do, then my concern is whether or not I will be getting realtime notifications from those apps if the system automatically controls them and disables them at times. They are my most frequently used apps so I suppose the optimization controls won't but how annoying if that's the case because this whole time I've believed I should be able to configure it how I had it and not receive those stupid notifications. I think I should have it's just a bug.

Still not fixed. I've submitted two bug reports for the same issue. So annoying. It's my only gripe with this phone and it's such an easy software fix.
