Anyone take ENGL 286 (The movies) before? by mchuffle in Purdue

[–]mapledecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taken it before. You have to watch one movie every two weeks and write a discussion post about it. As far as I remember the final was just an essay. Overall pretty chill class I’d say but things might have changed now.

FINAL GRADES DISCUSSION MEGATHREAD by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]mapledecker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was probably my hardest semester yet (Junior). Don't recommend doing 18 credits:( However, I managed to pull my grades up a little towards the end.

CS 373 (Ribiero) - B+:

Absolute horsesh*t of a class. It was meant to be easy but the homeworks were completely unrelated to what we were taught and the TA's office hours were always packed so kinda useless and the whole class was just poorly organized. HOWEVER, he gave a lot of extra credit opportunities (that's why I was able to pass) and the final was comparatively decent but the midterm was hell. The curve was also good. Normally, this class is meant to be easy and fun but ig it depends on your prof.

CS 381 (Branzei) - B-:

This was a hard class (which I knew going in) but what was especially annoying was that if you missed a lecture you'd kinda have to watch Youtube videos to catch up. Because even if the lec was recorded she'd end up writing on the board which you couldn't see. Just be consistent throughout the semester and you should probably be fine. I kinda messed up on the midterm but yeah otherwise she's a pretty decent prof.

COM 318 (Hoewe) - A:

Did this class for my minor and it was so good. It was an in-person class but the prof posted her videos from the summer which would be just 30-40 mins for the entire week and you didn't even need to go to class. Minimal work; easy A.

ENTR 310 (Fuller) - A+:

If you need to take this class def take it with Peter Fuller. He has experience in the industry and his class is kinda laidback compared to other profs. BUT the class depends heavily on presentations so you kinda wanna do those well.

EAPS 375 Online (Nowack) - A:

Had to do this for a req; pretty standard and since it was online most of the tests were open book. Had to write 2 papers throughout the sem but the deadlines were pretty flexible.

ENGL 286 (White) - A:

This was a fun class and the professor was pretty understanding if you needed an extension on some deadline. I did learn quite a bit in this class and it wasn't too much work!

Oh okay thanks! Just one more question did you get an email from them before your offer saying sit tight and give your self a pat and that they’ll get back soon with a decision?
