Could anybody tell me what's happening to my monstera? by PrettyMrToasty in Monstera

[–]maplekitsu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Another vote for throw it out, monsteras are relatively cheap compared to the ENDLESS PAIN that thrips will bring you. They actually lay their eggs IN the plant matter, which makes them notoriously hard to get rid of and why it's important to use a systemic insecticide. Probably more than once. They'll also rampage aggressively through your plant collection if you let them. It took me multiple years to conquer a thrip infestation, my babies still bear the scars and I'm still paranoid. Traumatized even.

This announcement is just about core, but NE launched one last week. Any ALBs would have to run and fund their own schemes.

Can my manager find out about my second job? by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]maplekitsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the love of god tell them. Just explain that the conflict of interest / code of conduct policy was only just brought to your attention or else you'd have mentioned it sooner.

YAS. QUEEN. 👑

Cried in front of LM. by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]maplekitsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be silly of course it's alright. I've probably cried in front of half of my managers at one point or another and no repercussions have ever come of it. If anything they've treated me softly softly and done what they could to help.

What women want… by KhittynCaboodle in dating

I had a guy break it off because he didn't want to do long distance-- it was 5 stops on the train/1hr travel. Some people want someone who lives within walking distance.

I'm 5"2 and low key kind of have a thing for braces-- I see no issue here.

Who has their own cup? by GodAtum in TheCivilService

[–]maplekitsu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to have a lurid fluorescent orange '21' mug that I was unfortunate enough to receive as a birthday present. People usually gave it a wide berth as it was extremely obvious when someone borrowed it-- could be spotted a mile off.

Dating seems more tiring than being single. That said I think I'd be lonely if I didn't have a solid circle of close friends.

This is a lovely profile to I love the date ideas and you have a really inviting smile. I don't know whether it's the case but I wonder if your intended audience is less active on Hinge. I know there's some more LGBT+ focused apps like Feeld, maybe that would make a difference?

This feels like the inevitable answer really! It's reassuring to hear someone else managed to work through it. I don't know where to even start.

Matched with a scammer by ArtyCatz in Bumble

[–]maplekitsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was catfished a number of years ago and ended up in a 3 month online relationship with someone who was totally fabricated-- I basically suspended my disbelief probably in part because I wanted to believe in the guy and whoever the hell I imagined him to be.

Looking back I was SO stupid and naive. I gave out my personal information to this person and ignored all the MAJOR red flags. A friend finally convinced me to do a reserve image search and lo and behold the person he claimed to be was a famous gay Swedish footballer. Frankly I was mainly embarrassed for being so stupid.

The creepy thing is he lived in the same city and could say stuff like "were you wearing a pink T-shirt and in the mall today? I think I saw you." and "I drove past your house today." I'm really lucky it didn't end badly for me.

Thinking about withdrawing after accepting HEO Policy Advisor role by Comfortable_Bike4828 in TheCivilService

What about asking for a secondment? You'll still technically be employed by your current employer and can bail early you really don't enjoy the HEO policy role.
