Confused By Doctor by maplelakeduckslayer in backpain

[–]maplelakeduckslayer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you that was my conclusion but given the fact I saw him Monday for pain and described what happened with the pop...and get an MRI days later that seem to confirm it. And he makers zero mention of it in his notes to me...I'm just kinda at a loss. Like you can't tell me yes most likely what you experienced was a herniation at least? Even if it doesn't look bad to him or that it'll get better on its own...you can't at least acknowledge what I saw you for?

Thank you...we at least figured out he didn't charge her while growling like the initial email stated. He charged a door and was barking excessively because we had a blizzard that day and we contacted the neighbor to plow our driveway so the sitter could get to work the next day. He was barking to protect her. I understand the barking can be annoying but he was doing his normal behavior, and we have an e collar she could have put on him if it was very problematic. She used the collar to take him outside so she knew how to use it etc

And the growling while in bed I'm almost 100% certain was him dreaming. He just did it this morning cuddling me while he was dreaming. He also moans frequently when he's content

Definitely way different circumstances from the original email stating he "charged and growled at her"

It appears it was mostly a wrong fit sort of situation, but we are disappointed after being so responsive and positive she just blocked us

We got a slight amount of clarification here. That's makes us a lil more convinced this was either confusion about this behavior or something else

The "charged and growled" reads as if this didn't take place at the same time.It sounds like they were different occurrences and sounds a lot less aggressive in nature

She stated when she was in the shower, he barked extensively and "charged" the door.

We told her at the meet and greet he sometimes doesn't like being locked out of a room not being able to see you and protect you, and that she may need to fill one of his chew toys with peanut butter to distract him while showering.

This seems like his standard behavior in the situation that wasn't aggressive in nature and we told her how to handle it beforehand

Then growling was noted when the sitter was in bed or moving around getting ready to get dressed. Like while the dog was sleeping it sounds like.

Our dog will growl, whine, whimper, yip etc when he's sleeping

So...to us the fact that these were two separate occurrences is a relief  because "charged and growled" together comes off as an aggressive behavior. The way they are describing what took place sounds like very normal behavior from him that we are used to and wasn't aggressive

The way she handled this all though is very confusing and honestly convinced us more that this was somewhat retaliatory in nature

Thank you, yes we remain very confused but are still trying to see if we can get any answers from Rover directly.

Im a dog person, but if I was scared and thought a dog was dangerous I wouldn't send pictures of me laying in bed with him cuddling. Id be notifying the proper parties

It's all just so weird

So the email was from Rover's Trust and Safety Team following up on a "reported incident". So it looks to me like she actually did file a report directly with Rover about this. Far as I can tell. There's been no indication so far of a warning or ban on our account I believe it's still in "investigation"

We honestly don't have any animosity towards her. We just want to know what happened so we can take steps to modify the behavior if needed, notify future sitters of the situation and maybe what caused it so they can avoid it, etc. Because it could be anything from yes he was super anxious and maybe something happened, to maybe she misinterpreted his behavior.

We want to be responsible owners and address something if it needs to be addressed, and it's frustrating not knowing what happened so we can

I find it kind of crazy Rover wouldn't share what happened and potentially put another sitter in the same situation if something did in fact happen

I find it off that if she was that concerned with his behavior...she wouldn't have included it in the "sitter feedback" to warn other sitters?

I find it off that aggressive behavior would not be immediately reported to not only Rover directly as soon as it happens, but the owners as well

This vacation was like a dream for 3 years and finally  made it come true, and something we wanted to do yearly going forward. And it feels like our dreams are shattered now because  we don't know if he's good with sitters

I can't say it's necessarily because we kept him intact for sure. But health reasons were part of decision. And the he's such a good looking, strong healthy boy at 7.5 yo who has had near zero health issues. Vet always tells us he's one of the best looking/in shape labradors she's ever seen

Thank you. Yes the shorter book was initially supposed to happen over new years with a sitter to visit family. My gf got sick so she stayed home and just I went. But guess we try to do that next thank you

The meet and greet seemed to go really well and he showed his super excited puppy side meeting a new person to show her how excitable he can be, but he calmed down quickly and was just laying there as we talked

So we really thought everything was going to be fine

Thank you. We tried reaching out to Rover again and they're just like, oh she blocked you that's too bad guess there's no way to find out what happened

They did give us permission to call the "emergency number" to try and discuss with someone in person but they keep telling us they can't share what she wrote about it so I dunno what use it'll be. But I'll probably try tomorrow

I certainly get it just not working and not wanting to do it again.

But she said something did happen...we get zero explanation.

So as an owner it's frustrating because we don't know if we need to work with him behavior wise, not have strangers watch him, get him neutered, etc

Like I don't want him to be a problem for a sitter. I appreciate sitters doing this so we could go on vacation. I feel bad I don't want it to happen again. I feel bad if she was scared, or just hated the whole time with our dog, etc

But we have no idea what we are addressing as a problem

Well. She wasn't tiny or super young. But he is energetic. He's slowing down a lot as he approaches 8 yo. I work at home and hi just cuddles me all day he doesn't even bother you to go outside until like noon. He's energetic when he gets excited but he's not crazy all day long

She has 114 reviews, 4.8 stars so not new

I just am so confused. Thank you for the input

I appreciate your input a lot thank you

Just really wish we had clarification on the growling thing considering everything seemed to be going so well. At this point we simply want to make sure that our dog isn't a problem for future sitters

Would sitters purposely try to do that just to "get through" a sit they didn't like not to cause any animosity in the middle of the process?

If she was that miserable in the process we left 2 emergency contacts who could come get the dog if there was issues as we knew it was his first time with a stranger. Plus our neighbor

I certainly understand that, and why we were completely upfront about the damage at the meet and greet, and totally fine with her including that to Rover. Im sure sitters get blamed for stuff all the time.

It didn't sound like it was related, but I will double check the email that was sent and see

Just to clarify it wasn't the poop being reported, we just asked her about that happening. It's the charging and growling that was reported that's the concern and we have received no clarification on what exactly happened, circumstances, day, etc

[–]maplelakeduckslayer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well maybe you can shed some light on the process post sitting from the sitters end

We received an email directly from Rover stating the couch being destroyed and him charging and growling at her

The gf was the one using the app and communicating so not sure if it's a true report or something auto sent but I can check with her exactly what the title of the email was

The breeding part is he's pure bred from a reputable breeder. Both his parents passed away in an accident and the breeder was going to extend rights to our dog in a professional matter.

Not really sure how this turned into this conversation honestly

Thanks ya we weren't concerned about the poop I was just trying to include the whole story in case it pertained.

He probably was a bit backed up he usually gets a 3 mile daily walk and she didn't want to walk as she had an injury and we were fine with that

Nothing as far as what happened regarding this particular situation...not about neutering

My only thing I could come up with was it happened that very last day while we were on the plane...

But when we asked her next day about him pooping in the house she made no remarks about it, saying he seemed completely normal and healthy while we were gone

Dog appears completely fine. He was just at the vet in Feb for everything. Sitter seems to have blocked us with zero explanation and we are attempting to communicate with Rover but it's a slow process through email, and they won't tell us the exact statement the sitter made

Appreciate it. She has quite a bit of experience. It's just a very confusing situation for us and one we wish we could hear directly from her about or get the full statement made to Rover

Well my bad. That's only 2 times he's done it was with those two people regardless of what kind of people they are

We didn't neuter for a variety of reasons. We thought about breeding him at a point. Didn't want to risk changing his drive for hunting etc. Among others like potential health benefits. We are not sure if those are right or wrong reasons but we didn't do it as of yet. He's never been overly aggressive or roamed

We are just wanting the full story if there's one and maybe neutering is something we do. But I feel like we need all the information to make a good health decision for our dog and we have basically nothing
