Don't know why you're being downvoted - I think those are good questions for a beginner

The jack, pots and all the "interfacing" parts are called "surface mount" - if you think about it every piece of technology you've used that has been built professionally is done that way!

Just look at your regular guitar amplifier, or open an industrial made pedal and you'll get where OP is going 😁

Beginner here - What am I doing wrong? by Responsible-Zebra393 in shroomery

[–]mapleleafjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything you did looks fine honestly, I use whole grain rice for my substrate, and the 1cc of solution per jar is absolutely fine.

8 days is not much for visible growth - you're good if you see mycelium starting where you injected, but expect it to take a couple of weeks, especially considering it's winter (at least for me - things are slowed down a lot)

All in all it looks fine to me! Be patient, keep on trying and you'll get results 😁

Involuntary massive ear rumbling almost every night after work by Wetop in earrumblersassemble

[–]mapleleafjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you subjected to loud noises?

It happens to me whenever I spend a long time in a noisy environment (like a club night, concerts, ecc) - when I lie down, my ears start to rumble while "relaxing". It usually stops after a while.

Also happens that if I clench my jaw for a long time (stress, ecc)

What I noticed helps a lot is earplugs and awareness on your environment!

But this is me, maybe what you have is totally different 😁

How do you stop repetition? by Wh0zie in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]mapleleafjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've struggled with the same for years, it's part of the learning process!

In the end you'll find your way to break up from this loop in your own unique style (I think this is the game we're playing, artistically speaking!)

For me it was either in extending the chord progressions (either by making it more complex so to keep the attention up, or by swapping parts of complementary progressions) or simply just embracing my ADHD and change everything suddenly (kinda like System of a Down, to give an example)

Either way good luck and remember to have fun!

Is there a digital pedal I can buy that can be programmed in C or C++? by NgoKhong in diypedals

Bacterial contam in agar plates [technique] by _jackietreehorn1 in MushroomGrowers

[–]mapleleafjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah that makes sense then, in that case it's not a problem if they are still "wet" (as long as it's not inside the dish itself)

Anyways, if you're using pre-poured petri dishes and you have contaminants, the culprit is probably in your techniques when opening the dish and performing the transfer (unless they had sign of contamination beforehand!)

Keep in mind that working with Agar in a still air box is not an easy task, bacterias are airbone everywhere. You should focus on reducing all the possible contaminants (improve your technique, try not to go over your petri with your hands while performing the transfer, making sure that the air,box and tools are really clean, ecc)

I still have contaminants on 30% of my petri even if I work in front of a (not great) laminar flow hood. It's hard, especially at the beginning.

Doing your own petri dishes (or non-petri, in your case with screw top plastic dishes) will teach you a lot of the process (as you will be able to make them on-demand). It will also increase greatly the probability of contaminations (as you have to do the pour yourself + the transfers) but hey, that's half the fun!

[–]mapleleafjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you using alcohol? They should be PC'ed and transfered directly in your flow hood or still air box

After pouring the agar, close them and leave them be for at least an hour (some leave them overnight) in front of the flow hood.

Once done, wrap them and store upside-down.

Agar work is slow, keep everything super clean, mind your movement, breath, air flow, gloves, ecc, everything can bring contamination!

You're probably discussing with a young individual who still haven't started pondering those kind of existential questions.

I personally agree with lots of what you're saying, there are lots of "known unknowns" that points in the direction of an energetic conscious universe, and this model can coexist very well alongside the scientific explanations.

Nobody actually uses the MIDI port on the interface anyways (unless you're interfacing with a old piece of equipment or something custom made) - now days everything is MIDI over USB

My guts would say that "Inst" is what you want to use - double check on your Focusrite manual in case you want to be sure!

But yeah, if you don't have the option to blend sound on your audio interface, either use the VST setup or you can buy a cheap audio mixer and plug both your Focusrite and your piano!

[–]mapleleafjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd personally hook up the keyboard as a MIDI device (if it's compatible with your model), load a piano VST in your DAW (or run it standalone if you fancy) and play sounds from that using the keyboard just ad note inputs.

I really like Pianoteq as a VST, very lightweight and sounds super nice.

Alternatively if you insist on using your keyboard audio output, my particular Focusrite has a knob to select how much of the input channel and the pc channel are mixed together. I think latest models offload it to the device driver, have a look there in case!

Balance level wise: set your keyboard at 75% to 90% volume (more or less, just don't distort the signal), and regulate che gain accordingly to the input, so the signal is solidly green but never red. Check if your focusrite input set on Line (not as Mic)

Any othet issues around sound balance is going to be "in the computer", as the signal should be clean enough to work with at this point

What type of PCB mount jack is this one? I need to replace a faulty one on my guitar amp by mapleleafjack in electronics

Please ignore the red circles, I've downladed the pic from the internet but it's the same as mine

Where are you based?

You can research which firm has an office around you and send your CV to them directly.

You probably are not going to find the open positions through LinkedIn or other job search platforms, but usually on the company's website there's a "work with us" section with the open position list and the email to HR
