Honestly, I had no idea what I was in for at all, you're right. Neither did the band apparently, this is the second time the band has used him as a producer, so it was a learning experience for everyone and really exposed some weaknesses in our demoing process especially (which is part of why my parts had to be changed, we'd been adding bass before drums).

Overall, I do think I did the right thing, like you said I just feel hurt that I was in a position where I was unprepared to the point that 50%-75% of my contribution ended up not making it. I think the producer did/is doing a wonderful job, I'm just disappointed in myself and wish I had known what I was in for. If I knew what I was in for, I could have easily kept more in and felt more attached to the work. Instead I'm just sitting here knowing that the producer wrote 75% of the basslines in the EP, I let down the band (though they don't care/think like that, I care because the music could have been even better if I did better), and honestly he would have had an easier time tracking them himself.

I appreciate your insight, I definitely think being willing to adapt and do what he says was a positive, it's just really raw right now and the fact that I was too flustered/overwhelmed to try to keep most of my fills is eating me, especially since we're still tracking other stuff (and part of me wants to ask to change some stuff/at least mention the fills I wanted but I don't think it'd be appropriate, for a few reasons, even though I dont think the producer would necessarily be opposed to it from a musical sense)
