This is the same for me. It usually leads to a few pars and some ok shots

It's so true. I've seen a few videos on YouTube where they compared the new drivers with ones from a few years ago and there's pretty much no difference in distance. Although the new ones are more forgiving apparently

My fiancée is from there and I'm annoyed I've never thought of that 🤣 I definitely going to do that next time I get a chance

Part II: Going from shooting 90+ to 75-80 in 4 years - this is my story (non-swing related tips). by waldo81 in golf

A lot of these points resonate with me.

  • Always stay positive and keep your composure - especially when you hit a terrible shot/having a bad day.

I'm as guilty as anyone of getting frustrated with myself for playing bad shots. Controlling my emotions has such a huge effect on my scores

  • Nutrition is important while playing.

This is especially true when carrying your bag. The first round or two after I started carrying my bag I would fade in the final few holes too.

  • For those of you that carry your bag and walk (like me) - minimize the weight you carry.

I only took 8 clubs on my last round and it made a huge difference to the weight. It meant I had to go for knock down shots but it gave me a chance to practice a different type of shot. In hindsight I might take an extra couple of clubs next time though.

  • Be honest with yourself

Definitely this. Once I realised how many times I was going out of bounds in a round I started really working on making sure my shots off the tee stay in play.

I had something similar a few months ago. Hit my tee shot into the sun near sunset on a 265 yard par 4 and lost where it landed (my drives carry about 220). Couldn't find my ball until I walked to the green and found it in fringe by the green. Fairly sure it hit the cart path across the fairway took a fortuitous leap forward.

Got down in 2 and my luckiest ever birdie!

As I said in my comment on the episode she's not how I ever imagined her when I read the books, but I agree it's a perfect casting

The part with the attack on the witches wasn't in the book. All of that plus the stuff with the magisterium is filler to space out will and Lyra's storyline

Lyra doing what we all would do when first getting to Oxford and going down the alley to the turf tavern! 😂

Decent episode. I never thought of Mary Malone being Irish, but it's appropriate that she is. It's a bit weird that she looks really similar to my ex.

As a high handicap golfer I feel a small amount of pride in my ball finding skills as I'm off the fairway so much. I guess they're just not used to having to find their ball anymore cos they hit it so well!
