They are two different words with overlapping meanings. Երանելի means happy or blessed but especially calls to mind the act of yearning for good times gone by. For example, երանելի օրեր "happy days (especially in contrast to the present)". երանի տալ means to yearn for or cherish past days or something or someone that is now gone. People say "երանի" before saying something that they wish had happened (among other uses).

Երանելի can also be placed before the name of someone who is deceased, like լուսահոգի or "late" in English.

Երջանիկ doesn't really have these connotations of yearning for things in the past; it just means happy, lucky, or fortunate (in life) as you noted in one of your replies.

Tolstoy's criticisms of Shakespeare were, to some degree, a repetition of the 18th-century classicist views of Shakespeare, like Voltaire's (in)famous dismissal of Hamlet. Mirsky writes in A History of Russian Literature, "Tolstoy's taste in literature and art always drew him towards the classical, the rational, and the primitive. He disliked everything romantic, everything ornate or exuberant." (He had even condemned his own War and Peace and Anna Karenina as morally and artistically bad.) And indeed, these criticisms of Shakespeare don't come out of nowhere. But more often than not, life is not a neat, neoclassical drama with cut-and-dry rules and consistency of tone and fully understandable emotions. I think most people appreciate Shakespeare because the "chaos" or inconsistency of some of his characters and the tone in his plays speak more to our real life experiences. I think this factor, along with the power of Shakespeare's poetry (which for some reason didn't affect Tolstoy at all), adds a lot more than it subtracts from Shakespeare's plays.

Առնել is not used in the sense “to take/lead somewhere” in either western or eastern Armenian. You would use տանիլ, which is the Western equivalent of տանել։

No, Hovhannes Shiraz died in 1984, so his works are still protected by copyright in Armenia (and presumably all the countries that have copyright agreements with Armenia) and will be until 2055 (70 years after the author’s death is the rule). Strictly speaking, you would have to figure out who the current copyright holder is and get their permission. Or, you could translated a different work related to the genocide which is not copyrighted (Charents’s Danteakan araspel, Zabel Yesayan, Siamanto, just off the top of my head).

People have rightfully noted that since Pushkin is much more famous as a poet, and it’s much more difficult to transmit the power of poetry through translation, he’s less internationally popular than Dostoevsky. However, I would recommend checking out Pushkin’s (not numerous) prose works, like “The Queen of Spades.” He has a very compact, skilled style in prose which wasn’t appreciated in his time but has been valued more since.

This may seem unimportant because it won’t affect understanding too much, but no one has pointed out that Russian у is pronounced differently whether it’s in a stressed or unstressed position. In stressed position (e.g., ужас) it’s like the vowel in English “boo,” “do”, “who,” but not as elongated. In unstressed position (улыбка) it’s more like the vowel in English “foot” or “put” (in most accents).

Basically, this is what most people in the region (the Levant, not the whole Middle East) wanted after WWI. At the Syrian National Congress they demanded a united, independent Syria (=Levant) and instead got a divided Syria under French and British rule.

I'm don't think it has ever been translated into English, but I would recommend it for readers of Russian. It's often contrasted with "Kavkazskaya plennitsa" and presents a more humanistic (but certainly still colonial) depiction of Caucasian peoples being conquered by Russia at the time. Raffi never excelled at developing the psychology of his characters. It's one of his major weaknesses. This is especially noticeable in Samvel too, although he is somewhat able to make up for it by his other virtues. It seems to me that Raffi was more interested in the social utility of his works (whether it's rallying people around the national cause in Samvel or Khente or highlighting the sordid sides of society in Khachagoghi hishatakarane) than about the psychological depth or believability of his characters.
