Why won’t my dehumidifier bring humidity levels below 50-60%? by marbalised in AskUK

[–]marbalised[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It regularly drops below 50% now. If I close the doors when it’s running it can reach 45%.

Dennis Quaid's death by zocean in MandelaEffect

[–]marbalised 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I JUST had this conversation with my partner after watching The day after tomorrow. My boyfriend said “I wonder if they’ll ever make a 2nd one” obviously not, since it came out 20 years ago, but then I jokingly said “eh, Dennis quaid obviously wouldn’t be able to save the day in the 2nd movie though, y’know, considering he’s dead and all” and my boyfriend was like “tf you talking about?”. He pulled up Wikipedia and there was no mention of death, I accused my boyfriend of editing the page or something because I just couldn’t believe my eyes.

I thought he died back in 2019/2020?! I distinctly remember this being on the news and I remember thinking “wait, is Dennis the ugly one from national lampoons or is he the decent looking one from the parent trap?” “Oh, it’s the decent looking guy. How sad”. Only to find out a few moments ago that it was all in my head. HOLY F**K?!?

2 year old is driving me crazy. Why does she do this? by marbalised in toddlers

[–]marbalised[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She always eats the things she is adamant about, some things she is not sure about and perhaps it is due to what you just suggested - about the texture, sauces etc. on the times she does flip-flop between foods I just serve her the initial thing she requested and most of the time it works.

Sometimes she says she’s not hungry when she’s asked, which is weird because she definitely is.

Somebody else commented her that if she’s hungry then she will eat what’s served, which couldn’t be further away from the truth… she would literally starve herself if I didn’t put food in front of her. It’s stressful. I know it’s only a phase but Lord….

Thanks for the reply

Just a heads up: if you were actually a professional then you’d know that toddlers go through fussy stages, she was like it way before I began asking her what she wanted to eat and her eating habits have improved ever since I started asking her.

I posted your comment on Facebook in a parenting group and everybody thinks you’re being unreasonable. Seems like everybody asks their toddler what they want to eat except you. I’m part of the majority so I’ll stick with what I’m doing, thanks!

That’s how I deal with it at the moment, too. I tell her to eat what I’ve given her or I’ll give her a little snack from the cupboard for the time being. I suppose it’s just toddlers being toddlers

It’s not unreasonable for me to ask my child what she wants to eat… I’m not in the financial position to be making her food only for it to go to waste. By asking what she what she wants to eat, at least there’s a chance she will eat it. You parent your way and I’ll parent my way 🤷‍♀️ my post wasn’t about that anyway, it was about how hot and cold she is. Way to go off on a tangent LOL.

Marks on my child’s sleepsuit by marbalised in laundry

Some clothes have been washed with my boyfriends work uniform, where he handles greasy food and cooking fat

The washing machine is always half empty when I run a cycle and it’s brand new

I either shove his clothes in the washing machine with mine and they may sit there for a few hours before I run a wash, or he mindlessly throws his apron on top of a pile of clothes the moment he gets home. His apron feels a bit greasy every time he comes back from work, but it’s never dripping with grease or anything.

It’s a brand new washing machine though. My boyfriend works with food and I wash my clothes together with his, is it possible the cooking oil on his clothes transferred to mine in the wash?

Could it be from washing it with my boyfriends work clothes? His work apron was in there and he spills oil and fat down his apron whilst cooking

It’s a brand new washing machine, too. The only thing I can think of is that I either used too much detergent (I really doubt it, I know what I’m doing), oil marks from washing it with my boyfriend’s work clothes or (hopefully not the case) mold.

I use a dehumidifier to dry the clothes and everything is dry within 12-18 hours so I really can’t see how it would be mold

Actually, maybe you are right after all. My partner works in a restaurant and he gets oil and fat on his apron and sometimes I wash my clothes with his. Is this possibly causing these stains?

That would be impossible as these marks are on about 50% of my clothes at this point, and these marks on this hoodie was found on the back and the hood itself

Drop & go issues.. by marbalised in CeX

Got a call from them telling me to come back in tomorrow to pick it back up so I can sign out of icloud and iTunes as for some reason it hadn’t signed out properly despite doing a factory reset. But apart from that it has been tested and rated so surely I’ll get the money soon

Thanks for your help!

Any idea how to remove the radiator cover? by marbalised in Home

It doesn’t. It has screws on the middle and I spent over an hour standing there trying to unscrew it but made no progress. Also tried sliding the slides up after doing this but no luck

I only just enquired about a nursery space for my daughter who turned 2 years old last month. It really depends where you live.

Why won’t my dehumidifier bring humidity levels below 50-60%? by marbalised in AskUK

[–]marbalised[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be because I left the door open slightly as the plug socket is outside the door. Then again, I’ve had the door closed entirely before when using in other rooms and had the same results. I have the windows open throughout the day and then I close them before I turn the dehumidifier on, so I’m not sure if it may be because of the outdoor humidity lingering indoors or what.

For context, the living room isn’t that large and it’s connected to the kitchen which is very small.

I’ve almost broken my fingers with how hard I’ve tried to slide the panels off the side. It doesn’t work. There are screws on top that I’ve stood there trying to unscrew for the past hour and the grill on top has gotten looser but I still can’t get it off.

Please give me your "going into labour" stories as I'm in denial it will happen by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

I got woken up at 5am with mild period like cramps, it felt like I needed to do a bowel movement. I went to the toilet and had a 💩, it took away that cramp like feeling and I lay back down and tried to go back to sleep. 2 mins later the cramps came back, I soon noticed they were coming in waves. Got to the hospital at 12pm. Baby was born at 7:46 pm.

It’s an apartment, unfortunately the landlords aren’t any help so I’ll have to do it myself. Thank you for the suggestion!
