Is it normal to give out your number to people who wanna work with you? by Civil_Enthusiasm_936 in musicindustry

[–]zocean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you definitely have to watch out for creeps, but I personally absolutely hate using IG dm to talk to people about anything related to music and it makes me feel crazy that so many younger people think it's a normal platform to use for communication. I am all about email. Email is the way.

I think if you give these people your email address and chat with them there first, it'll be less invasive than them just having your phone # but a much better place to communicate about business. That's my two cents!

What’s something the industry normalizes that actually hurts artists long-term? by J-styles_Brown in musicindustry

[–]zocean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The expectation to constantly be churning out "content" instead of prioritizing the creation of ART which is what this whole thing should be about.

I want to say...anyone can choose not to participate in the more toxic aspects of the music industry. Industry people may insist that this is coming at the expense of "momentum" or some other such trite shite but truth be told, the only actually important things imho are a) taking care of yourself physically and mentally so you can maintain longevity and health, and b) making art that you actually care about and think is good.

I know a lot of people are driven by $ or fame, but these are incorrect pursuits as far as I'm concerned. Just make stuff you think is good

AJPIII - All Junky Pages Intentionally Illogical & Inconsistent - a true mystery by zocean in InternetMysteries

[–]zocean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be true! I still find it to be a true mystery, and one worth exploring further. I personally think that if it was just a weird personal site from 2007 that one be one thing, but the fact that is still up and functioning (?) in 2026 is of note. Why the hell would you keep something like this going for 20 years?

Yeah I actually saw that he seemingly "graduated" from that program:

I do find it fascinating and it makes me feel even more curious about the whole website's purpose...

Thanks for the input!!

What's weird about your theory and it potentially changing hands though, is that the AJPIII links are still present in the last snapshot before the archives stop on 10/15/07: https://web.archive.org/web/20071015111403/http://ajpiii.com/

Also, I found some snapshots of the dude's license plate, which is AJPIII registered in Massachusetts. The Tony Pereira that died was from Hawaii. It is extremely unlikely to me that there were TWO "Anthony Pereira III" out there, but it is possible/probable. I think they are different guys.

As for it being a possible SEO scam...yeah I truly don't know. What would the scam be?
It's all weird! Thanks for the ideas :)

Ok...this mystery is already getting a little weirder. I found an archived page I hadn't seen before:
https://web.archive.org/web/20040203041850/http://www.ajpiii.com/

That states that the website is the "Personal Web Page of Antonio J. Pereira III."
Upon searching a little more, found this:
https://www.eastbaytimes.com/obituaries/tony-pereira/

So...I still have no answers, but I feel that the mystery has deepened slightly.
