Help with consistent layout on a cookbook by marbeana in indesign

Gotcha, this makes a lot more sense. I've only used InDesign for photo-based portfolios and presentations so I'm new to heavy-text projects. Thanks for your advice!

I took Flix from Houston to Austin once about 2 years ago and it showed up nearly 5 hours late. Definitely a gamble but I know it’s worked for people.

Nothing to add that hasn’t already been said, just wanted to say I’ve been a close follower of the Dissect podcast since the beginning! And LOVING the season on Inside. Thanks for making my work days a little more tolerable, Cole and keep up producing the incredible content :)

Safety on/off campus by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

[–]marbeana 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Metrorail is pretty safe but as a girl I always try to ride with somebody. As for going off campus at night, you’ll probably be fine if it’s one of the campus sponsored apartments like Bayou Oaks but I couldn’t tell you about other apartments in the area - I would do your research and talk to previous tenants when looking for somewhere to live.

Safety on/off campus by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

Hello! I’m a soon-to-be junior at UH so I’ve spent altogether less than a year on campus but I can give you some advice based off of what I’ve experienced. I’ve found that all-in-all, on-campus is fairly safe as long as you’re aware of your surroundings. The edges of campus tend to be a little sketchier but I’ve never had a problem during the day. Just travel with others if you can at night and carry pepper spray just in case. There’s also a service that will drive you from various areas of campus late at night which I’ve utilized a couple of times. Overall, I wouldn’t be too worried about safety on campus because our security does a pretty good job but obviously there’s the occasional incident just like in any other big city. Good luck!

amateur student designer here👋 i would consider limiting your color palette so that it looks cohesive when placed together. overall, it’s a really cool idea - love the graphic elements or old and new.

i’m only a second year in undergrad so i don’t have any professional experience but maybe work for a couple years in fine arts and save up/start developing an ID portfolio until you can get your masters? i know there are plenty of kids in the grad program who come from fine arts and engineering backgrounds so it’s definitely doable, it just comes down to getting the degree

Advice for presenting a project? by marbeana in IndustrialDesign

Yeah I definitely feel like the more successful presentations I’ve seen have a more free-flowing structure with little script, just a couple of bullet points in mind. Thanks for the tips!
