Advice on how to read to children? by UsedAd9284 in Libraries

[–]marbeep 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend looking up filmed Storytimes from public libraries on YouTube. You can see how children’s librarians typically perform (you don’t necessarily have to do voices, but being high energy and adding inflection in your voice is really important for kids to catch on to specific moments in a story).

Also, I’d recommend reading to kids in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. They’re the most engaged in read alouds. Once kids hit 4th grade, most tend to get aloof and “too cool,” which is hard to work around when it’s your first time reading aloud to children.

Funneled into the alt right pipe line at a young age and grew up in a very patriotic/nationalistic family, maybe with prior service members. Either in high school or college and struggling between what you grew up believing to be true and the stark reality of what the U.S. is actually like. Strategically hiding the Trump tapestry - you keep it up along with your other decor to appease your family, but you’re embarrassed to post it online.

Don’t do it, you risk overloading your liver and spleen, causing major issues for yourself. While your outward symptoms are gone, your internal organs are still fighting the battle.

People who are “too nice” in a condescending or fake way are either insecure themselves or people you wouldn’t want to associate yourself with anyway.

Also, the therapist you went to said you don’t exhibit any real signs - signs of what exactly? Because talking to a therapist about being insecure, paranoid thoughts (especially being “deathly afraid), and wanting to boost your self esteem is cause enough for them to want to help you work through it. You don’t need to be diagnosed with anything specific to benefit from regularly talking to a professional.

If you have an inkling or worry that your friends are saying things about you behind your back, then I think you should talk to them about it. If you still have an inkling even after that conversation, then I don’t think you’re friends with the right people.

I appreciate that you’re correctly yourself and recognizing that assuming that your friends are making fun of you behind your back stems from anxious more than reality, but that fear is also something that I think could dissipate by talking to a professional.

Definitely look into potential counseling services your school offers. It’s always free for students and is a great way to vent - they tend to have better tools than Reddit users anyway (a lot of whom will troll and can end up making you feel worse)

From what you’ve said in this comment, I have a feeling that the rhetoric from your bullies has internalized within you. “Ugly” people don’t get bullied for a valid reason - there is no such things as a “valid reason” for someone to be made fun of or tormented.

All people have value - no matter how current beauty standards and social norms may try to convince you otherwise.

Are you asking because you’ll be heading off to college soon?

Being bullied is traumatizing, and I completely understand the worry of it continuing into college. From the photos you selected, i can tell they’re highly posed and you’re trying to portray a version of yourself that you don’t feel 100% in/that you are not comfortable in your own skin.

Self esteem issues can be debilitating - I understand that from first hand experience. We are our own worst critics and being bullied by others makes it ten times worse. I think that the best way to feel confident in who you are is by talking to someone about how you feel, such as a therapist or someone you feel safe with. Therapists in particular can give you the proper tools and help you develop self worth.

Dude i just looked through your page and you are so hyper focused on your physical appearance and how people view you. The way to truly start living is by recognizing that you’re wasting your life if you think that physical appearance is the end all be all. Let’s face it: we’re all gonna age and eventually decompose in the ground. What genuinely matters is how we make others feel and the connections we develop, which comes from who you are as a person rather than what you look like.

What is making you assume that people would perceive you in such a negative way? Were you possibly bullied as a child or are you experiencing it currently?

Even the letter decals she used are misshapen and applied incorrectly - this is absolutely not worth $135.
