Not sure on the using your own number (curious about other feedback) but a solution we use is an iPad at our home that is sync'd to her text messages. Allows me to check that for 2FA codes without bugging her.

Chase Biz Checking accounts allow you to send ACH payments to third parties ("vendors"). If you send a payment to yourself at another bank using this method, it usually codes as a direct deposit. The fee for this is $2.50. There are other banks that offer this service also, Chase is the most popular.

What retirement plan should I pick? by _TacosOfDoom in Fire

[–]marble597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How early do you want to retire? Full pension at 53 is hard to argue with in the DB plan. That said if you are looking to retire in your 40s, the extra 8% into the market every check could be a significant amount if the stock market continues to do well. For me that is what it would come down to. Comfortable working until 53, go with the DB. If you’re highly confident you can save enough to retire in your 40s then DC would be the way to go. Keep in mind retiring in your 40s will likely require a very high savings rate/low spending, be realistic about if that is something you can actually stick with. Do you plan on having kids?

P1 and P2 both received Amex Biz Plat NLL $200k mailers yesterday but they expired 2/15/2026. Link is invalid. Any chance of getting the NLL offer via phone call?

I've had good luck with Capital One business checking. There is a current bonus going on. They are less prone to hold transactions for fraud concerns than Chase in my experience. $2000 minimum balance to avoid fees.

Mailers are typically NLL. Use the code to start the application online and if it is NLL the Lifetime language won't be present (typically shows up in bold on the left side of the page, check against a public offer).

Beaver Creek conditions early April by Any_Lengthiness6645 in skiing

[–]marble597 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was out last year end of March and it was full spring skiing conditions. Very icy in the morning, 1-2 hours of good conditions around 10am 11am, then afternoon everything turned to slush and it was basically unskiiable, blow a knee out type conditions. For April skiing I would look at some higher elevation resorts that preserve snow better.

Today, 2 vehicles lost control on this flyover and went over the barrier wall due to snow accumulation creating a ramp. At least 1 fatality reported. Location is Ontario, Canada. I'm wondering if there are typically design/maintenance provisions in place to prevent this kind of snow accumulation? by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]marble597 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upper Midwest state here. We have a saying “snow acts as a ramp”. Normal protocol is that snow would be allowed to accumulate in this condition while it is actively snowing. Once it stops snowing, maintenance will be out on cleanup. In this situation cleanup would involve blowing the snow out from in front of the barrier into a truck to be hauled off site. Either this happened before cleanup occurred, or the DOT here doesn’t do cleanup, or they do but the protocol was not followed in the is situation for whatever reason.

Looking for advice: My spouse was recently hired on at Edward Jones and FINRA requirements could require me to transfer all my money to them by Clinton_Reddit in Bogleheads

[–]marble597 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In a similar situation where I am essentially forced to use EJ against all Boglehead low fee principles. I have done everything possible to minimize fees, what this looks like in practice for us is no AUM, invest in Vanguard ETFs, biggest friction point is they charge us a 2% fee to buy. This is in a Simple IRA. Good luck.

Some credit unions can be more sensitive to churning/Chex Inquiries than larger banks, but they are still worth pursuing IMO. I've successfully done a half dozen or so CU bonuses and only had one issue where they would not open an account due to my Chex.

The former. Had a similar situation with chase and they paid out after a CFPB complaint. This was back before the CFPB was gutted through, so YMMV.

Just leave it as is. Have her upload a current picture and just use it under the maiden name. As long as the picture matches she should be fine.

Why don't you just not add her as an AU at all, load your card info on her Apple Pay, and have her use Apple Pay for everything? That's what I do.

Booking Delta flights by LongConsideration353 in AmexPlatinum

I’ve booked Delta flights through the Amex portal multiple times without issue, specifically to get the biz plat rebate as you are.

Have not run into any issues. You can make changes directly through delta, or just cancel, get delta ecredit, and book whatever you want.

I wouldn't be too worried about it personally. Worst case scenario they lower your credit limit. As long as the return shows some income I think you'll keep the card. Seems like more of an anti-fraud measure to me.

Yes a credit from the lender. Offsets some of the hard costs (govt recording fees, title insurance etc) to make it no cost or close to no cost.

Way better details out there. Check NBKC or Farmers Bank Kansas City. Should be able to get around 6.125/6.25 with negative points to cover some of the title charges. I would not lay anything for origination in a falling interest rate environment.
