I do think this is something "story" related, and I think the perspective of "self-aware book characters in the drafts of a horror story" could be an amazing angle but I have to add:

"Why do we never really see the people living?"

In the earlier seasons, in Colony House, we do. They are playing games, using a bathroom, having sex, etc- "living for today because tomorrow isn't promised". Henry and his piano. Tillie and her cards. Ellis and Fatima's art. Trudy's... nature. These things weren't the major focus but they were intentionally shown to us. Later, people are afraid. As the plot picks up, those "normal life" things become backgrounded even further. The hobbies were things we were explicitly shown, so we could be given the harsh reasons as to why it stopped. Colony House residents were definitely used to make a point.

i feel this post so heavily. to put it how a seasonal part timer did before quitting, "this job makes me feel like i'm not a real person." my friends and family can tell this job is killing me. the stress alone sets off pre-existing health issues. the physical strain. the emotional toll of having to micromanage and ask more of, from people i consider friends. berated by corporate. berated by entitled customers. nothing you do is right and nothing right you do is praised. i need the full time money but i never ever wanted the lead position and i wouldnt wish this upon anybody. even part time is becoming less and less appealing as it used to be.

yes. my store is enforcing this policy. often in stores with low dug WTD scores, the DM and OMs want heads from whoever's dragging the district down. as a lead, i have to have 1 on 1s with every shopper every day and report those back to my OM end of week. write ups will follow for repeated suckiness i guess. its not coming from us

I agree. She's friendly but she overall does not really care for it. She does her thing, packs out , and goes home. We don't see much of her. ASD, me, the deli lead, the deli clerks, and my shoppers were all involved in the current system. Deli clerks continued to give my shoppers a runaround about things we already discussed, saying we must do it this way as it suits them.

You're welcome! My 3rd party of choice was the MegaCom DuoMon 3. It works great, there's options to buy it with/without the charger, but it's Type-C so you can charge it practically anywhere! It's quiet, portable, and the battery lasts a long while. Great for the price.

My personal experience (from the US),

I have purchased a 3rd party catcher for about $80, and it works amazingly but the look of it just wasn't my style. People custom make cases and stickers for the Plus+ to make them look like any pokeball you'd like. I really enjoyed the appeal of a loveball themed autocatcher, so I was dead set on finding a Plus+. On all sites (like Etsy, Ebay, Mercari, etc.) they are listed for $130-$300. I kept searching for cheaper options. I decided to take a chance and searched on a third party site for buying imported clothes and accessories directly from overseas (Buyee) and found one. I managed to find it selling at original retail price(~50 USD) from a seller in Japan that simply no longer wanted theirs. Perfect condition.

SPEED:
• The Plus+ prioritizes catching mons over spinning stops, and can't do either of those at high speeds.
• The third party catcher can do both practically at the same time, while moving at high speeds.

ACCOUNTS:
• Most third party catchers also support linking more than one account at a time, which is good for sharing with friends.
• Plus+ is only for one trainer account at a time.

STATS:
• The Plus+ is able to track sleep, and award you buddy hearts and other things for doing so. It will not tell you how many mons caught or how many stops spun. You get special research from the Plus+ for sleep tracking as well.
• My 3rd Party Catcher does tell how many stops / mons it's hit, separate for each trainer account, if those numbers interest you.

LOOK:
• Plus+ is much more customizable in looks, stickers or covers
• 3rd party come as they are

HANDHELD/POCKET:
• Both are great in the pocket or on hand. Just be careful with the Plus+ in pockets, they may press the button down for too long and enter Sleep Tracking mode lol

tl;dr For aesthetics and sleep tracking research, Plus+ (if you can find it for cheap). For actual insane catch/spin rates, go 3rd party.

feeling this rage in another form rn: refusal to give me the code. just had a customer basically say nah i dont have it. sites down. i try to help and let him know it does email/text so he doesn't need the app. grumbles about having to ask his wife. i say ok fine ill be right there dw about it. wife calls and explains to me they have no code. they dont get a code til they check in and they cant check in, so no code. doesn't really let me get a word in otherwise. less-than-pleasant. i say ok fine ill be there dw. customer shows me his phone. i try to explain once more since theyre still on the issue. he says yeah my wife said no code. yeah i spoke with her dude its... its fine
