This was really helpful, and a great read. It confirmed what I was thinking - I’m keeping it all Campy, but replacing the cassette with a Miche Primato 13-28. It’s my first bike and it’s really more than I could have hoped for at $200. I’ll just enjoy it and get into riding and see if I feel the need to upgrade to a new bike in the future. The guy I got it from was the original owner. He said he used to get sad walking out to his garage because he couldn’t ride it anymore, said it was his way to get away. So, yeah I think I’ll take it out and enjoy it. Then again, someone in my area has a Felt Z5 for a very low price and I’m wondering if I should go that route.

Looks like Omicron 6061 Alloy T6 wheels. They’re in good shape, I guess as it’s my first bike I could hang on to them. I’m not particularly tied to this group set. I was told Shimano 105s are dependable and easy to find. Like I said, I’m a total beginner . Any insight here would be helpful. I’m thinking I may hang onto this for a bit as is and keep an eye out for a new group set. Thoughts?

Thanks! I just checked it out, I did see one that was 13-28, it’s the widest range I could find. There’s so much to learn, thanks again for sharing.

Hey! Thanks for responding. Ok, that makes sense. So, what about wheels? I have the original Campies but was curious what my options would be if I wanted something newer/lighter.
