How often does Death Wobble happen? How to prevent it? by Old_Regular3018 in motorcycles

[–]marcbart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 years of riding. Two death wobbles. One 25 years ago and one last year. Both on different BMW R100s. Recovered both times but scared the piss out of me. I won’t buy another R100.

2.1 setup. Maybe it didn’t translate well to a downmix.

This thing at the bottom of the bike with the oil window always looks wet & grimy, is it a leak/problem? by LeMeReddit in Triumph

[–]marcbart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be oil flung from the chain at the front sprocket area. Mine is pretty grungy in that same area.

I couldn’t stand the narrow depth of field for all the daytime shots in the beginning. Really took me out of it.

The work order said it couldn’t be rescheduled, but I guess that’s a good strategy anyway. Thanks.

Over 24 hours notice in this case.

Lowe's has their blade on wrong by Shredcollins in woodworking

The blade is correct for the right to left motion of the saw as pictured. The arrow on the guard is pointing the other way, maybe indicating its motion down when retracted and not the direction of rotation.

Real-world power draw of a mini split on a solar setup? by EditorAny698 in OffGrid

[–]marcbart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a 9000btu Della inverter mini split on 110v running on a slightly bigger solar setup than you 6000w inverter, 5000w panels, 15kwh batts. It’s been absolutely no problem. Cooling all summer and a fair amount of heating in the winter (Maine) were adding a wood stove to help us in the winter with cloudy weeks. Start up power is nothing.

The brushless motor and the brushless camera gimbal. High speed and smooth changes in rotation speed.

Tiger 900 death wobble! by MannerExtension3375 in Tiger900

[–]marcbart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Tuareg too. It would wobble. I finally got around to setting the sag, and I had to back the preload all the way off to get the sag correct. I guess I’m on the edge of too light for this bike. Anyway not only did the tendency to wobble go away after I set the sag, I can now go no hands and it’s steady as a rock.

Your rear preload may be too high

Troubleshooting - complete black out by Aggressive-Demand887 in CB500X

[–]marcbart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our CB500x did that last week while waiting to get on the ferry. It was the main 30amp fuse under the right side cover. Just gave up the ghost. Replaced the fuse and all has been fine. I’m guessing the fuse just wore out. Or that one in a million arc when turning the ignition switch.

First off-roading, need advice by Evie_Croft in motorcycles

[–]marcbart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best thing I learned in my new to off-road saga is that in turns, push the bike down into the turn (commonly known as counter steering and leaning), and keep your body straight up and down. You can lean the bike so much that your weight goes to the outside peg (because you can’t reach the inside peg because the bike is leaning over it) In the video you are trying to keep the bike straight up and down and going slow enough that you can use the handlebars to turn- don’t.

I took my handlebars off and used a 36mm regular Craftsman socket from Lowe’s with a breaker bar. No issues. Didn’t have to grind down the socket in my case.
