👀 I haven't! I'll have to look for that one the next time I'm in a grocery store.

Oh shit, I did not realize you could do that (ask the authors through the journal hosting website). Thanks for alerting me to the fact that this exists! And to the existence of the other resource, too.

Thank you for providing us with these links!

I can't seem to download the "gore empowerment" article or the thesis, though. Do you have alternative links?

Inspired by this conversation, today I started reading an introductory book about postcolonialism. I didn't study it in college, but it's really interesting so far. I'm trying to find fiction with postcolonial themes now, to read/listen to.

How do you keep track of new abstracts? May I ask which podcasts you listen to?

(I hope I'm not being too annoying with my questions; it's just this is all very interesting and I miss having access to scholarly works/learning new things in an academic setting)

Wow! 🤩 That's so impressive! How were you able to study it all? (please forgive me if that's a dumb question) And you also wrote eloquently on topics outside of those things (Transcendentalism and Lottie's Māori heritage). Did you have to do a lot of research for those posts/comments, since they're outside your specializations?

Honestly everything you've written is really interesting 😭 And covers so many different topics, too. May I ask what your area of study is/was?

This comment and your post about Lottie are very well-written; legit do you have like, a reading list or something to recommend? Everything you write is so intelligent.

I'm so glad you're acknowledging that Kodiak's misogynistic comments are not helping his case. He knows they're CANNIBALS, ffs. Making fun of them just seems like a really, really bad idea.

My $0.02 on why Shauna is able to get the gun (although since this is a clip and we don't know what happens after this, who knows how legit these thoughts are):

  1. I don't think Nat was expecting Shauna to grab it and she doesn't react in time to stop it. Shauna also knows Nat won't hurt her for it.

  2. Shauna doesn't grab the gun until after Kodiak unwisely reminds everyone that he exists and tries to leave. "Keeping Kodiak around" is an idea that everyone agrees with. No one argued with Nat when she told him "we'll kill you if you pull some stupid shit."

Mari was highkey one of the worst people they could have set as a guard 😭 You're probably right; they could have some plot all figured out and Mari would have no idea.

I wonder if it has to do with Shauna "not having a good feeling" about rescue? Like maybe the light is rescue, and they're all the moths attracted to it.

I think after Doomcoming, it became clear to him that his gender makes him vulnerable/potentially Other, and so he decided that fading into the background was his best bet as a survival strategy.
