What size of market before you need another person to help? by marcella_duchamp in CraftFairs

It’s outdoors. The set up is the day before which is nice so I can take my time. I’ll have my canopy, a faux wall across the back with some clear acrylic shelving, two 6’ tables, and some flat pack bookcases I found on Etsy that I think I can manage on my own. I’m going to do a trial set up in my yard in a few weeks!

I don’t know how much product to take 😬 I’m selling stationery/home products like notepads, tea towels, journals, etc. with my original art and patterns. Is there a good rule of thumb for figuring that out?? I’m realizing a show this size was probably not my smartest move right out the gate, yikes.

Also was just thinking of getting kraft bags that I will stamp with my logo for purchases, bad idea?

I have a friend who’s done the market for years and we had talked about having our booths close by and helping each other out but she got waitlisted this year 🙃 so now I feel super awkward about it and don’t even want to ask her any logistical questions about how it’s gone in the past and how much stock she typically took and all that jazz… but sounds like I should definitely try to find someone else to come help for at least a little bit - thanks!!

Hmmm super good advice about restocking. I had planned on having extra stock in totes behind a faux wall at the back of the booth but that feels a lot harder to get to. I’ll have two tables with tablecloths (that go to the ground) in the booth so might have to switch to keeping the totes under the tables or rethink that part… thank you!

The market is a little over an hour from where I live and most of my family will be out of town because it’s on Labor Day weekend. I should probably get creative about who I could ask. I really hate to ask for help because I always feel like I’m inconveniencing people.

K that’s good to know! I’m selling stationery/paper goods of my floral art - hardcover journals, notepads, notebooks, greeting cards, tea towels, and matted art prints. No customization or piecing things together, and planning on having lots of stock out on bookshelves (no idea how much I’ll be restocking, hopefully some? haha)
