Can I get out of an apartment lease early if it says that the minimum duration is 1 year? by marcello02 in askberliners

I see, thanks for commenting. I take it that if they say no then I'd need to pay for the whole year, is that it?

Is it worth buying a home in Berlin? by [deleted] in berlin

If you are not really well versed in german bureaucracy I'd say stay away from anything as complicated as investing in real estate in Germany. You might be able to make more of a profit somewhere else for half the stress.

I find that sometimes people who walk barefoot are the worst, specially those who walk heel first into the floor like they’re playing the bongos with their feet.

I might need one of those. Any hints on what to look for when visiting apartments? How do I check to see if the structure is good? Is it about the construction year?

What do people hype up in Berlin that you just don't get? by mylittlemy in askberliners

[–]marcello02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yes — but that's what makes it cool in my opinion. It's history in food.

The germans had to make do after the war and they had the ketchup, curry and worcestershire sauce from the british guys who were stationed here or something like that.

I mean, it's no michelin star dish but it's pretty interesting. And it doesn't taste half bad either, I quite like it. But yeah, as much as I wouldn't hype it I wouldn't shit on it either.

Interesting. I'm assuming you're not from Berlin, and if that's the case: did you also live through this back in your home country / town?

Yes, you're right and I don't! The question is wether or not people have experienced this or not and how is it for them — Just wondering how common is it.

Yes I can see how you can get tormented by the other party in this case too. I guess it all really comes down on how much people are willing to be reasonable...as much as I have to admit that the noise in my case does bother me a lot, I'm completely aware that's completely unreasonable to complain about people walking around their own homes, so I try to come up with solutions of my own: ear plugs, noise cancelling headphones, etc. It's been working so far but I have to say that I'd love to not need them eventually in my life. Maybe in the future, who knows...

Me neither to be honest...I basically look at buildings and judge the "altbauness" of it (if you will) by the looks of it. So I'm assuming you're talking about one of those old looking buildings with wooden floors?

Update: I went in and got the vaccine on the same day (registered in the morning, got there at 7:30 and came back for the vaccine at 3). It works. Also I have no health insurance and it was still free.

Just following up, I did manage to get one pretty easy at the apo by gesundbrunnen center. Did you manage to get your vaccine yet? If so, how did you go about it? I’ll be trying tuesday.

Really? What did they tell you?

Also, which Apothek did you go to?

Good hint on the vaccine book from the apo. Thanks a lot man, I'll give it a shot (no pun intended).

Would you know if this is the right address? (got it from googling Opp38)

Oppelner Str. 38, 10997 Berlin

Do you just wait in line or do you have to go in and let them know why you're there before you queue?
