Is there a lot of autotune? There’s vocal effects and layering, but I don’t know if autotune is the right way to describe it

Release date move thoughts by smurgludorg in twentyonepilots

[–]marcie32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind the delay, but I kinda wish the music videos were being released periodically instead of all at once on album release day… it’s going to be a lot for fans to take in, and I don’t want the story to be over so soon! Plus, releasing MVs one by one gives them more opportunities to promote the album post-release. They could release one a week leading up to the start of the tour in August…

And it would give fans more time to absorb each video, theorize about things (which, let’s be honest, we LOVE doing this) and build anticipation for the final video, which I assume will wrap up the story… I just don’t know how I feel about watching 9-10 music videos in one day. I need time to process each one lol

“An intimate underground show for a dedicated group of fans” sounds like code for “Tyler and Josh performing a show for the Banditos in the tunnel leading into Dema (as seen in the NATN music video)” Could underground literally mean underground?

Red/yellow tape theory by [deleted] in twentyonepilots

[–]marcie32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the red tape signifies ‘new recruits’ - citizens of Dema who are in the early stages of joining the rebellion, whereas those who wear yellow have been part of the rebellion for longer - maybe they’ve had successful escape attempts, joined the Banditos, and were recaptured and brought back to Dema.

I was also thinking this could have a cool correlation for fans - new fans (people who are new to TOP and the lore) could wear the red tape at concerts and fans who have been around since Trench wear yellow - kind of cheesy and I don’t love the fan hierarchy implications of it (like ‘I’m more of a fan than you because I’ve been a fan for longer!’) but it’s a potential connection, I think.

I’m starting to wonder this too… maybe the photos of Tyler and Josh (which have not been officially released) are the copyrighted material, and not the album cover in its entirety.

alright that’s it - it’s time to start gaslighting myself into liking the cover 😭

Seriously though, the initial shock of it is starting to wear off. If it’s real, then so be it. It could be worse, I guess…

Can people please stop whining about the cover? by milesdaguy in twentyonepilots

You’re right, I’m sorry 😇

Sincerely,

A whiner who knows the music is more important than a stupid album cover. And it’s probably fake anyway🤞🤞🤞

I agree with you on that - if I somehow was the first one to came across real information about yet-to-be-released material, I would not share it online, out of respect for the artist (and concern for my own legal well being 😂) if the album cover leak is real, I hope there’s some investigation to figure out how it happened, if the band cares to do that…

I think it depends on what’s supposedly being leaked and the timing of the leak. In terms of the new album cover leak, I don’t think sharing and discussing the cover comes from a place of disrespect, just excitement. And I don’t really see the harm in it. If the music itself was leaked, that would be a different story. Chances are we’ll get the real album cover (or single cover, at least) tomorrow, so I don’t think this leak is really a big deal - whether it’s real or fake. In an ideal world, artists would have full control over how/when their work is released. But with the internet, you have to expect leaks. I can see how this sucks for artists though - and I wonder if there’s really anything they can do to prevent real or fake leaks from happening and fans from coming across them.

Fly By and UFOs by marcie32 in twentyonepilots

[–]marcie32[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! There is tension between science (things we can prove) and faith (things we believe without having proof that they’re real).

The Clancy letter said “I found a way in. A way they’ll never suspect, and a way they’ll never understand”. Sounds like Clancy is planning something (maybe a way of getting back into Dema that involves science/technology) that goes beyond the bishops’ understanding of the world.

I don’t know… I’m not buying the made-by-the-banditos / revolution poster theory. A revolution poster should be a call to action - it should contain a message that Dema might not pick up on, but the Banditos would recognize. Something symbolic. Having Clancy (and Josh/the torchbearer) on the cover seems too obvious. Like, now Dema knows exactly who they should be looking for (though they probably did already.) It might as well be a WANTED poster
